Standing Orders

Being a nerd and a history buff, odd dates in history have special meaning for me. Like today. On April 18, 1942, General Jimmy Doolittle took off with a flight of B-25s from the USS Hornet and bombed Japan. It was a raid that caused little physical damage. But Japanese Admiral Yamamoto was given permission for a pair of operations to destroy the US fleet. His plans resulted in the battles of Coral Sea and Midway, which turned the momentum of the Pacific war around and enabled the US to seize the initiative. Its ironic that such small acts can cause momentous consequences.
