Seneschal Report

Seneschal Report

First off, I want to express my gratitude to Muz, Sarin and Jac for entrusting me with the responsibility of being the Seneschal of the Brotherhood. I've been working with the code of the Brotherhood in one way or another for quite a while now. I don't pretend to know everything about it yet, but I do have a pretty good idea of how things are working (or not as the case may be) and what it is going to take to move forward.

As I've only just barely been appointed to the position, there isn't much to report yet in the way of 'progress', but I hope to be able to make those kinds of reports soon and frequently. I will say that several emails have already been traded back and forth between Jac and myself to get the ball rolling, so I am quite optimistic.

The Seneschal Staff

I thank Solus, Dessan and Jinius for their service, but (for the moment at least) I will be clearing out the Seneschal Staff. However, I am opening applications for P:SCL and M:SCL.

There are two primary reason that I made this decision.

First, while I have been working close to the code of the DB for a while, it has been a while since I was last working on the Seneschal's staff. As such I'm afraid I do not know any of the current Magistrates, or what they're working on. Combine that with the recent appointment of Solus Gar to Praetor to the Headmaster (congrats, btw) and the decision seemed pretty simple.

Second, I want to know who out there has the skills, the desire, and the ideas to help move the site forward. There are some big projects on the horizon. Several of them have been mentioned recently and frequently in reports. Things like: Possession, the new GMRG, the SA Grind Path. There's a lot to do, and I would be foolish to think that I can do it all on my own and still have time for petty things like a real job or spending time with my family.

To apply, send me an email with the following information by Wednesday, June 30th:

Rank and Leadership Experience: Please include your rank and any positions you have held in the DB recently. There are no real minimum requirements here, but I do want to know how long you've been in the DB, and what your experience with the site has been so far.

Coding experience: The site is currently an odd blend of old-school ASP and PHP. You'll need to have a working understanding of either (preferably both) of those languages. (Hopefully it goes without saying that you should be pretty comfortable with HTML, JavaScript and CSS too, but I'll leave this sentence in here just in case.)

Ideas: What feature or tweak would you like to see happen on the site?

Report Images

I feel kind of left out right now since I don't have any nifty images to separate sections in my reports. Or a nifty header image...or a nifty image to put in the 'Important News' section for when I have something important to say. (Yes, I know how rare that is...) So, someone more graphically inclined than me should cook something up for me, and then I'll give you a shiny medal. (Ouch! Alright! Stop hitting me Korras!) I mean, I'll of course fill out a Competition submission form tomorrow after I've gotten some sleep so that the MAA can award the winners appropriately.

That's about it for right now, so I'm going to steal a page from our beloved GM...

TL:DR

I am the SCL. Be afraid. (I'll try to come up with something clever to say that is even half as entertaining as 'bork bork bork') Apply for P:SCL/M:SCL! Make report images for me! (please?)

Can't wait to see what you come up with! I'm excited!

I agree %100 with Aabs! It will be very exciting to see what you dish out, and I'll be eagerly awaiting news updates from you Arion.

Go fix the CF matrix so we can actually keep track of team gaming properly... :)
