Clan Scholae Palatinae Aedile Report

The shuttle lifted off from the landing pad at the Dragon’s Citadel and flew south toward Suzel. Inside the standard military issue spacecraft, newly painted to resemble something fit for royalty, sat one hundred men from the Kraken regiment. They in their highly polished and pristine armor were the honor guard for the rulers of Antenora, on a mission to visit their queen.

“Stop fidgeting, Draco,” said Xen’Mordin.

The Krath Priest glared at the Quaestor. “I intensely dislike wearing this foppery.” Draco was adorned in purple robes, highly polished silver breastplate, ceremonial sword dangling from his belt, and black shimmersilk trousers. A silver crown, relatively unadorned, its only ornament a ruby-crusted dragon, encircled his brow.

Vismorsus, superior to the dark Jedi seated at his left, wore slightly more ostentatious clothing, with gold breastplate and crown, his dragon formed from diamonds, and the crown larger and more ornate. “It’s an act. We can’t let the locals know our dark Jedi affiliations. They think of us as conquerors, fiefs to the Emperor.”

“I know, I know. They respect wealth and pomp and we have to play the part of royal courtiers,” said Maligo.

“This is important. Since Acclivis Draco assumed control of the planet, outside influences have conspired to keep us from realizing total control. The tribes are fractious, ready to dive into civil war.”

“That might not be a bad thing for us,” said the Priest.

“Possibly, but right now we need to build a foundation, and that means impressing the natives. With the frequent changes in House leadership, and the missions that keep drawing both the Kraken regiment and the dark Jedi away from the planet, a lot of the natives are questioning our authority, and especially our levies. We can count, more or less, on the Hoka Dachu to support us, but they are outnumbered by everyone else.”

“Right, so we pump them up, flatter Queen Naktia du Libache Dachu and try to steer the emotions of the populace. You think like a typical Sith.” The Aedile shook his head, his crown sending glinting shards of refracted light reflected from the glowlamps in the shuttle’s ceiling.

Xen smiled. “And how would you handle it, oh master Krath?”

Draco chuckled. “Work through their religion. These people are still deeply spiritual due to the Rakata influences on their culture. There’s even rumors of native magic being practiced by local shamans. We use some mind control, a few demonstrations with the Force, and they would believe we are gods. Simple.” He shrugged.

“We’ll do things my way,” Vismorsus said. “You are only second in command.” The iron set to his jaw reflected the closing of the discussion.

Draco looked to his side and smirked. “With the regular changes in leadership, you might say I’m temporarily second in command.”

Xen’Mordin looked at his Aedile and smiled, the kind of warm smile that a predator stalking his prey enjoys.

News and Notices

Big leadership changes. Exodius has stepped down, Xen’Mordin has stepped up to Quaestor, and I’ve switched over to Aedile. We are accepting applications for House Rollmaster until the end of June, so if you are interested send your app to Xen and me. We are going to be presenting the fictional development of Acclivis Draco in our reports, on the Wiki pages, and on the message boards. Hopefully this will spark more active involvement among the members. Rumor has it that Dante is working on Summer Games. So if you enjoyed the Spring Games, look for the next installment next month.

The awards for the Spring Games have been distributed, accounting for nearly all the House activity for the past month. Raiju Kang earned 2 Cr-1A and a Cr-1S. Xen’Mordin earned 2 Cr-1S. Exodius earned 2 Cr-1S and a Cr-1E. Dakari Palpatine earned a Cr-1T. Korroth Karn earned a Cr-1S. Aesir earned a Cr-1A. Congrats to all!
