Guilds and Societies, new CM and the DBPA

Dark Greetings all,

Over the past week or so I have been working with some DC members on addressing a problem that I have had with our structure as a club for a long while. The crux of the problem revolves around new entities within the DB and whether those entities should be lead by a DC member.

Now it is pretty well-known that I do not like creating DC positions that take talent from clans. With that being the case, I wanted to find a system that could meet those standards and the needs of the DB for expandability at the same time.

To further complicate the problem, we have an issue with upcoming gaming platforms and succesful guilds being able to find a way for the Brotherhood to offer them support.

Thus, the Dark Council has ammended the DSC to draw upon Societies as a more permanent structure again. Under the new system, guilds that begin their life under the direction of the CoG would have the ability to move along one of two paths.

The first path is the one that Allegience most curently follows. It is a popular game that may eventually be adopted by an order and taken under the arm of an order leader.

The second path is the development of the Guild into a society, much like what the ACC is today. These societies carry their own structure, and their own leader, but unlike Guilds, society leaders have the ability to post news, award medals and reccomend promotions.

As societies, the structures would fall directly under the command of the DGM. The leadership positions for these societies will be part-time, quasi-DC positions. For example, under this system, the Combat Master will be a position that is dualy held along with another position in the DB, whether that be house member or DC member. Society leaders will still be included on the DC correspondance, but will report directly to me instead of to FireFox.

Please note that this does not change the status of Commander of the Guard. This is a special position that still leads the guilds, but by tradition also leads the Guard Society.

These changes are noted at http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/dsc/guilds_and_societies.html

In this new system, we will have two Societies.

The ACC will continue as a society under my authority and under the new direction of Prelate Gryffon De'Urtha Cantor. Gryffon was one of many great applicants who showed a great deal of potential. He was highly reccomended, but what struck me most was the manner of his dealings. I trust that Gryffon will be strict with reform, yet courteous to the tradition already abound in the ACC. I would like to thank everyone else who applied. It was a very hard choice.

Further from the ACC will be a new sister society in the Dark Brotherhood Player's Association. Kelric Aronae has been asking for some time for firmer support from the DC and the brotherhood as a whole for the DBPA and I feel that it is time to give him that support. From here on out, the DBPA will be a full-fledged society with the functionality that goes with that. Under Kelric's dedicated leadership, I hope that the PA can prosper thereby.

Lastly, I will be using this opportunity to make better use of my Praetor, Bloodfyre. He will be placed directly in charge of Society Affairs and will help me and the Society leaders with finding solutions to problems, creating new ideas and keeping ourselves organized.

Aqain, congratulations to both Gryffon and Kelric on their new positions as Society Leaders. I believe that the ACC and the DBPA are headed to great days!

As always, please email me with pithy comments if you wish to opine.

Congrats to the sexiest he-bitch around - Gryffles!! Oh, and grats to Kel too :P

I like the society system. Less clutter in the DC I suppose :o)

Well done Kelric and Gryffon!
