** -> House Revan Aurek Cell Battle Team Commander's Report #1 7 September 2010 <- **

Greetings!

This has taken me.... way longer to get out than it should have, and I apologize deeply for that. Starting college took a lot of time that I wasn't really expecting, but classes have settled in and besides the 100+ pages of reading I have before each class (speaking of which, I only have classes on Tuesday and Thursday, which rocks) I am starting to get a sense for how my time is organized. As such, I'm here to get Aurek Cell rolling and fast, before the start of the vendetta on October 1st.

State of Aurek

Speaking of that vendetta, training for such a large-scale DB-wide event was one of the major points I brought up when proposing this cell. In the last vendetta, House Revan came out on top, but since then, suffice to say, we have not been active in any regard. I hope to change that. I certainly haven't started off too well, and we lost a member because of it, but I'm here now, and we are going to get things done.

How are we going to train? Well, activity is something that takes time and dedication, which isn't always the easy to come by, I know, but I'm going to help you all get active so that come October we participate in as many events as possible and earn as many points as possible. Obviously, there's only so much we can do in a month, but we will do the most we can. During the vendetta, I will keep bugging you about participating in everything, and then once the vendetta is over, we will continue to keep ourselves active through competitions, roleplaying, and hopefully, eventually, intra-house competitions.

First, as you'll remember from my initial email setting up Aurek Cell, I have limited us to a membership of ten. This is simply because small numbers work better together. It's easier to organize and easier to get to know each other and work well off of each other. As of today, we have room for four more members, which I would love to add to the roster. So, if you have a buddy in House Revan who wants to get active, make sure they know about Aurek Cell! All they have to do is send an email to myself and the house leaders, and we'll get them added. In the meantime, the six of us are going to have a great time earning medals and getting involved in discussion.

Competitions

To start off, we are going to have a simple competition based around the DJBWiki. Aurek Cell is brand new, so there's nothing currently written about it. I am leaving that to you all. Attached below is a link to a competition that will run for the next ten days. During that time, it is up to you to write up Aurek Cell's Wiki article. Here's the major part. If you do not participate, your membership within Aurek Cell will come up for review. This is how the house leaders and I agreed to run this team. The members are meant to be active all the time, so if it gets to where you slack, then we will ask why, and if an answer cannot be provided you will be removed from the team.

Anyway, this Wiki competition is a simple one, and free reign on how you want to portray Aurek Cell within the house and the Brotherhood, so have fun with it! Check out this link!

Along with this competition, there are also a ton of competitions open to the DB as a whole. I for one plan on participating in all three of Halc's comps this month, so you all should as well. You participation in DB events outside of Aurek Cell (the SA, ACC, GMRG, etc.) also factors in to your activity level. Not to mention all of these things will factor in to the upcoming vendetta.

News from the Outer Rim

I'll expand/move around this section in future reports, but here I will outline what's been happening outside of Aurek Cell, just for those who don't, for whatever reason, keep up with the main news page. First, the Headmaster released three new courses and two new degrees: Combat Tactics I/II along with Mandalorian Studies. All three courses rock; I should know, I coded them. Along with these new courses comes a fourth new course, however, titled the Grand Master's Royal Guard.

Sure enough, as I'm sure you're aware, the GMRG is back, based completely around a gaming community. House Revan doesn't really have that many gamers, but if you do game, even if not well, than this is the reason to get back into it, and just in time for vendetta season! First, pass the GMRG SA course, found here! After that, you advance through the ranks by earning a certain number of Clusters of Fire each month, with awards to follow. If anything, take the course, it's interesting.

Conclusion

As I release more of these reports, they will become more streamlined in their organization, and hopefully I'll get some graphics to spruce them up a bit. That's all for now, though. The main things to keep in mind is that there are tons of competitions out there to participate in right now (including our own that is required), and these comps are meant to get you ready for the vendetta, so take those few extra minutes to start working on that fiction piece!

I realize I didn't do any sort of introduction, mainly because I figure you all know who I am already. I will talk briefly about why I took up this position. After I stepped down as Headmaster, I made the decision to place myself in House Revan, rather than returning to Plagueis. The reason for this was that I had been in leadership for over three years straight, and I was tired. I still am tired. So I came to Revan to relax and just enjoy being a member. I am still doing that, while helping out in smaller ways through Magistrate positions.

I also want to help out House Revan, though, and so I took up the call of Aurek Cell. House Revan is a great house with a lot of expectation weighing upon it, we all know that. We also know that besides our win in the last vendetta, we haven't been holding up to those expectations very well. I am not making a bid for leadership of this house, I still consider myself a regular member on vacation. I'm just taking time out of that vacation now and then as a sort of "outside contractor" to make sure that this house is active enough to not only show up in the vendetta, but quite frankly active enough to warrant staying a house at all. I'm here because I see potential and want to make sure it is realized.

It is to be hoped that one of you will show potential enough to take up leadership within the house yourself, because the role of any great leader is to train a replacement that will continue their ideals and goals. When that time comes, and I hope it comes, then I will fall back into the shadows again, coding Shadow Academy courses and participating in competitions just like I did when I joined over five years ago. Until then, I am dutifully your Commander, and hope that we, as Aurek Cell, will have a fun and encouraging time together and create a reputation that people will hear about when we start pwning in the vendetta.
