Wiki Tribune Report

-> ## Tribune of the Holocrons <small>Report #1, November 2nd 2010</small> <-

<big>O-HAI-THAR!</big>

Hello everyone, and welcome to my first report as Wiki Tribune. Lets all hope that it's the first of many! ;) This report is going to feature awards, as well as some staff and upcoming changes. As many (hopefully all) of you see, I'm lacking report banners. As such, I'm putting out a general call for some. I care about the graphics - not who does them. Don't think that if we've had trouble in the past, I'll instantly dismiss your work. Because I won't. I reformatted my computer not too long ago, and didn't bother reinstalling Photoshop. The only piece of information you'll get from me: I'm in love with the one that Robin Hawk did for Windos/Vexxtal. Those were dead sexy. I'd be happier with identical dividers, instead of different ones. The first person to create a set that I really enjoy and pick to use, will receive a merit award. Hope you enjoy the long read, and I hope to see lots of images floating in my mailbox!

Upcoming Changes

Wiki Staff

The first major change I'll be instituting as Wiki Tribune, will be a staff change. I have asked the current members of the staff to email what they've been up to within the past month, DJB wikipedia-wise. If they haven't been doing anything... then they'll likely be removed. If too many staff positions are opened, I'll be closing a couple of them. The first change will be our very own Ji, who was brought onto the Wiki Staff to keep people from getting too far away from what is considered 'DB canon' and make sure that their articles are plausible. Since he now fuffills that roll as a member of the Voice of the Brotherhood's staff, he is no longer required to be a member of mine. He will still retain his administrative privileges, so he may lock articles when the circumstance calls for it.

I'm going to start taking 'applications' for the Wiki Staff immediately. I don't care who you are - if you're interested, apply. My only requirement is that you know what the hell you're doing (at minimum, have passed the Wiki Basics course at the Shadow Academy). Simply say what experience you've had thus far on the wiki, why you'd like to be a member of the staff, and the score you received on your Wiki Basics (as well if Wiki Editing, if you'd like) exam. Next week, I'll be announcing the new staff members (as my audit will have been completed). Good luck to everyone.

Policy Changes

Within the next couple weeks, I'll be instituting new policies, changing some of the current ones, and maybe even removing 1-2 of them. One of these policies will be one regarding the maximum page size allowable. As some of you know, the moment an article reaches 32kb, the wiki loves you enough give you a stupid message telling you the page may not load correctly. There have been arguments over this in the past, but since we've started dividing articles into multiple pages (an example: Shadow Taldrya/One, Shadow Taldrya/Two), those messages have really only been a problem if those multiple pages exceed 32kb. This new policy will require your article to be a maximum of 32kb. Which means if you have to split it into 10 pages, then you have to split it into ten pages. More information will be released on this in the coming weeks.

Templatez!

It's been decided that we're going to standardize the way templates are written, much like how the Brotherhood Website code is being rewritten to a certain 'standard'. Many of us create templates and sort the code how we see fit, but that will soon come to an end. Members of of the Wiki Staff/myself will be going through all of the different kinds of templates we have (infobox, award, rank, House, etc etc) and will be writing up a standard source code for each. The codes will of course be available to regular members to use, but this will take some time.

Conclusion

I know it's not the standard Tribune report you're used to - with the fancy links XD But that'll be making a swift return. I just wanted to get this out ASAP. My next news post will contain (hopefully) headers, links, as well as the announcement of the new staff. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me or any other member of the staff. We're here to help. On a much more personal note... If you have a problem, please come to me about it. Don't talk behind my back. I (like pretty much everybody else in this club) appreciate having things said directly to me.

That's all for that little rant. Finally... Congratulations to Fremoc Pepoi and Reman Khaar! Reman Khaar was chosen as this month's Wikipedian of the Month, while Fremoc's character article is November's featured article. As a heads up: the Day of the Fox is nearing, and there are just four days left before the coveted Seals of Loyalty are handed out!
