DGM Report #2

Report #2 - April 15, 2011 <-

Hey, it's another DGM report! That's right, I haven't disappeared yet, so you're all still stuck with me for awhile longer. While I am still going to try and get a report out on a regular basis, it may not always be possible. Much of the information I would include is already in a GM report. However, as more projects start ramping up, I should hopefully have news that isn't already covered in other areas. Oh, I also have a Formspring Account now. Feel free to ask any questions on your mind, and I'll be happy to answer.

As everyone should be well aware of, the Independence Games are a go! You can fnid all of the information you need at the IG Site. All of the information you need should be there. In case it's not clear, clicking on the individual headings will bring up the General Rules. There are drop-down menus for most of the headings that contain the individual event information. Remember, most events are only one week long so get them done quickly! A new batch of events will be released next week.

While I have your attention, just wanted to clarify some things about the ACC event. Don't forget to sign-up after you have finished a battle if you want to continue to participate. You can also sign-up for a match at anytime before the deadline of April 24th, so don't hesitate to jump in! Also, I am going to attempt a different grading scheme for these matches. Grading will use a point system based on Writing (45 points), Realism (35 points) and Continuity (20 points). A small conclusion will be provided explaining the score. I am trying this scheme out during the IGs, and if it works well, it may be used for Vendetta events where a large number of battles have to be judged quickly. This scheme will not be used for regular ACC Battles.

During March there was also a Run-On with 7 teams having entered. I would like to thank everyone who participated and attempted to get things finished. In the end only 3 teams actually managed to get some sort of ending together. However, only 2 teams seemed to finish off their Run-On on their own terms. While Team #4 (Vodo, Dralin, Diclonius & Lokasena) put up a valiant effort, the competition was ultimately won by Team #2 (Muz, Ashia, Shikyo, Ronovi & Kal).

I highly suggest those who participate in Run-Ons, or wish to, to read the Winning Entry. It meets all of the criteria for a great Run-On. I would also recommend reading the Runner-Up as they also put in a very strong effort!

This has already been mentioned in Muz's report, but I would like to once again congratulate Arcona and Naga Sadow on becoming a Clan once more. It was not an easy decision by any means, with many of us really delving into the details. This is the first time we have gone through this process, and while time consuming it is not something we will skimp on. There were a lot of angles to cover and some hard questions were asked of both Clans. This is a decision that can have very large consequences for the club, so it was not one we would rush into.

Both Clans now have a lot to live up to. The other Houses will not redouble their efforts to become a Clan once more, but neither Arcona or Naga Sadow can let up. They must continue to try and lead the club in as many areas as possible. They must set the example for others. It is a big accomplishment for both of them, but it is really only the beginning. Good luck to them!

Also, a big congratulations to Orv on his Silver Sash. I don't think there is anyone else we could have chosen for this, and really, once we hit on Orv there was no one else we could think of. Well done to everyone else who received a Seal of Loyalty. We are continually focusing on those who not only help their units, but also the DB as a whole. I believe the group this year really exemplifies that.

There has been a lot of movement over the last month or so in the DB, so I thought I would give a quick run-down of things

  • Vodo was named the new Voice of the Brotherhood. He has taken on Dralin as his Praetor and kept Diclonius on as Magistrate

  • Timeros was named the new Combat Master

  • Archean was named the new Tarentum Aedile

  • Jaek was named the new Plagueis Aedile

As I end my report I would like to remind everyone again about the Independence Games. This is a great chance to try new and different things without worrying whether you are helping or hurting your unit. No strategies are needed. Just go out and have some fun. There should be something for everyone in this competition as we've tried to add in a variety of different events. It is the perfect warm-up to a larger Vendetta, while earning some very nice medals.
