Quaestor Report

A quiet warmth of accomplishment rose up in Eiko's throat as he stepped out of the Throne Room into the hallways where Consuls and Quaestors were flanked by their assistants.

Eiko smiled. It was good to hear some of rumors from other Houses were true and to hear a little more about the implications of actions that he'd sanctioned or designed. He'd noticed the slight glance from Shaz'air. The value of good information was rising underneath Eiko.

"Quaestor," a voice buzzed in his ear, hushed. "There's a report we caught hold of. Scholae is mobilizing a small team on an expedition. I'll have details when you're free to speak."

Eiko exhaled as he felt his thoughts sink their teeth into new information, dissecting every last piece of information, digesting facts and absorbing the implications. What are you hunting for, Vismorsus? What have you found? Firmly, he worked back through the labyrinth, his robes whispering around his ankles.

DB News Digest

Vodo has released a fantastic update that continues to develop our situation heading towards the next Great Jedi War, slated for somewhere in the September/October window - Fremoc's on a killing spree and everyone is at someone else's throat. CNS is looking for a Consul - applications shut down June 19. In Muz's report, I gave Shikyo a box. Orv's been relentlessly fighting for the freedom of our servers, first doing battle on the Wiki and more recently dueling CGI errors.

AWOL Dry-Run Initiative

We are going to face one of the hairiest, nastiest challenges of recovery here in a few weeks. Korras will send out an email to everyone asking them to reply according to the email's instructions. Members who don't respond will be removed from their House's roster.

This is an AWOL check. And there will be one in July.

Go ahead and check the House roster for Revan right now. Don't worry. I'll still be here when you get back. See that number near the top of the list? That's the number of members we have right now. Our House won't survive it if we can't hold on to 20 members (read: twenty, two-zero, one member for every finger and toe you have). To prevent catastrophe, I need you to keep reading.

I will be sending out personal emails to each and every one of you. Check your email and respond - this is a dry-run of the AWOL system. Then, after you've responded, stay very aware of any emails coming into your account. I don't want you to miss the AWOL check email when it does arrive.

This does not mean that I want you to say you'll be active if you’re as good as gone. This does not mean I will prevent you from transferring to other Houses or Clans if you feel that's where you need to go. This does mean that you and I will be aware of expected AWOL results well before the deadline. And that will keep me from having a heart attack.

Shards of a Lingering Darkness

A joint run-on between Plageius, Scholae Palatinae, and Revan will kick off on June 24. You have until June 17 to apply so that you can be included in this event. If you want more details, talk to Tra'an, Xen, or me. There will be no opportunity to fold into the action after the June 17 application deadline.

Thyferran Holiday

Callus and I are working on the House RO "Thyferran Holiday" right now. If you somehow missed the news of this RO and would like to get involved, send us a message or write in the Out-of-Character topic for the RO. We'll try our best to get you folded into the plot.

Rollmaster Application

This is an ongoing process that hasn't yielded results yet. The Rollmaster position is open. Applications will be taken through the pre-prepared Google Form option or through a traditional resume-style format. Present your case as to why you would make a good Rollmaster for Revan in the manner you see fit. I'm looking forward to seeing your applications.

Trivia Ladder

There were no responses to last month's trivia competition. Standings remain the same this month. Expect the last trivia of the Ladder through the mailing list - and good luck. It's still anyone's ballgame.

  1. Tsingtao Ming (29)
  2. Joseem (16)
  3. Lambow (12)
  4. Daniel Stephens (6)

New Members and Promotions

We have one new member: Memriez!

We're finally picking up new members again, thanks to Orv's masterful adjustments to the backstage mechanical components. That means that all of you at DJK+ can get in contact with new members who you would like to apprentice and those members still working through their Journeymen ranks can ask for help from members they'd like to follow.

Memriez: Apprentice Eiko: Obelisk Templar

Anniversary of House Revan

Our second RL anniversary (fourth in-universe anniversary) is coming up here in under a month. Besides announcing the final results of the Trivia Ladder, is there something else you'd like to do? If you'd like to run a competition or would like the Summit to run a competition so you can compete in it, just send us an email. We've made it this far, guys. I want to enjoy that fact with all of you.

Wow. EQ1. It's a little like graduation. You finally get out of the first two tiers of Force powers and you feel like you can take on just that much more of the Galaxy without getting your beaten, bloody face handed back to you by your opponents.

It's also made me realize what I enjoy so much about being here. Leadership is something that I love: enabling people's successes, sticking it out through tough spots, being on the cutting edge of a group...

There's a funny fact about the cutting edge, though. I want you to find the nearest sharp object (knife, razor, etc.) and look at the edge. And I want you to notice a few things.

1: If the edge is sharp enough, you shouldn't be able to see it. If the edge reflects light, it's dull. When people are doing their best work on the cutting edge, they won't necessarily be seen.

2: The cutting edge is not the entire blade. Even razor-sharp wire has a trailing edge. If the cutting edge was the entire blade, there would be no stability to the blade. There would also be no way to safely handle 100% cutting power.

3: Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan is slated for release on November 15, 2011. This isn't about the cutting edge. This is just too awesome not to mention.

4: Even the best edge dulls. People will burn out if they are left on the frontlines without support. I know someone might want to read into this and go "OMG. Eiko is trying to say he's burning out." That's not the point. The point is actual this: keep sharpening the edges. Find ways to encourage one another on things that they're doing well and gently point towards things that they can improve. I'd love to hear what I'm doing well. I'd love even more to hear what I can polish, improve, and correct as I go forward. Open communcation is the best way to sharpen me. What sharpens you? Have you expressed that to people or do you expect them to just wander into the right way?

That's all I've got for now, folks.

You're real sports for reading this far.

Have I told you lately?

Interesting points about knife edges. Especially since I'm been thinking about collecting knives... =P
