Grand Master Report

"You know, of course, that he's moving against you." The hooded figure broke apart for a moment before the rolling blue lines recaptured his image.

Muz nodded at his old mentor, now relegated to a footnote in the Brotherhood's history, a wanderer of the dawn, treading the line between darkness and light. "I counted on it."

"I don't need to tell you to be careful, then." The man smiled for half a second, then let it fade.

"No, you don't."

"Master Loira..." This was a new face. Loira stroked his chin as he debated whether or not to open the hololink. Paranoia was not unwarranted, given the past few months. Given what he planned.

Ollie shot him a sharp look, then rose from his seat, offering silently to take the communication for him. Loira motioned him back with his hand. The Former Sith made a brutally loyal apprentice, even if he lacked in subtleties and grace. Then again, the switch had been pulled by his own deft hand to make him that way.

Loira flipped the switch, opening up the channel. "Whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

The man chuckled. "I should have guessed that it was a false name. I am Jonuss Rai."

Loira sneered, finger hovering over the killswitch. The man was known to him, a Son of Sadow. One of the honored among the Clan named after a Sith Lord that almost tore apart the Old Republic. "What do you want, Sadow?"

"I am a Son of Sadow, no longer." Jonuss paused, letting the Master feel that the words were true.

"Where is Ji?"

"Preparing for your arrival." Jonuss smiled. "He has left me in charge of certain other obligations to the people of New Tython. I just had a few details to iron out with your retinue, if I may."

Vodo waited for the hidden door to open, slipping through the rumored passageways of the Dark Hall. The smell of burnt air and cold stone crept through the still air toward him. It wasn't the Throne room. This was to a special room, one that few dared ask about, let alone ask for entry. He felt his way along the passage, pausing at the exit to make sure that he would not be surprising the man.

The Lion paced the carpet in front of a stand, an ornate wooden box displayed prominently on top of the carved stone. Muz paused and cast a sidelong look at the Voice. "You've found more?"

Vodo bowed and moved forward, dropping to a knee in formality. "Yes, my master."

Muz turned and moved closer to the man. He'd only been his mouthpiece for a few months, and yet had proven himself a very capable addition to his Dark Council. "What have you discovered?"

"The Gand." Vodo sneered as he thought of it. "He's been in contact with the Betrayer."

"And the agents we have had infiltrate?"

"They confirm this."

"There's more?" Muz blinked at the Krath.

Vodo looked up at the Lord.

It's report time.

As just about every report for the last few weeks has already said, we stand on the cusp of a Great Jedi War. This will e the tenth Great Jedi War that we have hosted, and there is a lot of work and plotline leading up to it. Astute readers will be able to see where we are going with it by going back and reading as far back as 2009 for report fictions and such. It's been a long time coming, as the last GJW was back in March of 2009. We've had a few Vendetta since then, naturally, but nothing on the scale of a Great Jedi War.

I'll cut straight to the quick on what you want to know: Great Jedi War X will begin on September 25th.

It would be smart of you guys to make sure that you're brushed up on your gaming skills, qualified for the ACC and ready to kick tail for your House or Clan. There's a full slate of competitions ready for you all to sink your teeth into. There's also (as I've mentioned) a full color comic that will introduce the war, what we are doing fictionally and how the story progresses.

After reading through a few really good applications for House Odan-Urr's Quaestor, Halc and I decided on Jonuss Rai, formerly of Clan Naga Sadow. Jonuss is a leader from way back, familiar not only with where we have come from, but also with enough ideas and vision to know where we, as a club are trying to go and how we are going to get there. He's got a heck of a fight in front of him, trying to fill in Ji's shoes and leading a new house with so much drastic differences from the others, but we are confident in his abilities.

Congrats on the position, Jonuss. We're looking forward to seeing what you can do.

Valkas, or Vally as many know him, has been working his tail off on helping to increase the Brotherhood's digital footprint. He's taken over our social media recruitment efforts, tweeting, facebooking, and reaching out to other organizations that have fertile ground for us to get some new members.

If I have said it once, I've said it a thousand times, but new members are the lifeblood of our club. It is literally our most important job to try to make them feel at home here and try to get them to where they are having fun and contributing to the Brotherhood in one way, shape or form.

Valkas has also been working with Halc and I about creating a small group of members who are just as interested as he is in growing the club and helping him in his recruitment efforts. There is room for one or two from every house or clan. This will help ensure that these new members will be divided up rather evenly from these efforts, which is something that I am sure that you all would prefer. If you have a knack for social networking and a desire to help recruit new members and help them get acclimated to us, shoot Valkas and I an email, and we'll see about bringing you up to speed.

Kal and I (and Ashia and Halc) have been working on a do-over of the Clan Possessions system. There was soem talk of this, way back in Sarin's day, but it never got completely finished, sadly. Basically, we're going to be going through and making Official Artifacts that clans and houses can win and lose in Vendettas. This will add another venue of awards for clans, and create a bit more fictional rationale for feuds and vendettas between the clans, as they will be able to be used as wagers between the units.

These are pretty high-level artifacts, too. We're not just randomly creating stuff and hoping that there's an emotional investment to 'rings of power' or anything like that. Each artifact has a pretty involved back-story, steeped in Canon Star Wars lore and linked to the Brotherhood in rather cool ways. There's a lot of research that has gone into it, and some of the stuff will harken back to our own history as a club.

I was originally hoping to have this ready for launch by the end of the GJW, but sadly, it's looking like we'll have to wait until a little bit after the war to launch them. That said, placement in the GJW will affect the order in which the units get to choose from the Vault.

Ask the GM!

Howlanda Asks: "Fictionally: how many "normal" people live within the DB terrorities?"

Well, Antei has a population of people, but they are rather primitive, and keep away from Adas (the Shadowlands, where the DB facilities are), so they're not really involved with us. We do, obviously, have a large number of non Foxtrot Uniforms living with us as soldiers and support staff for the Armed Forces of the Iron Throne.

As far as the Clans and Houses go, most planets held by our units are populated, some sparser than others. Each Clan and house differs in how they interact with their population. Some ignore them, some rule over them, and some use them essentially as slaves.

Xantros asks "How often the Dark Council approve personal Force powers, created by individual members of the Dark Brotherhood?"

The long answer: Since we have gone to a canon-only model of Force Powers, it's hard to justify 'personal' (meaning only for one dude) force powers. That said, if you find a Force Power that is not represented accurately by the existing powers we have in the system already, let us know and we can incorporate it in, perhaps as a future clan power or just as a reissue when we go through and tweak the Force Powers system that we already have (there's a lot of duplicated efforts in that system).

The Short answer: Pretty much never.

Wuntila asks "When will the preemptive information (such as the fictional plot/comic) be released?"

While there will be 'zero-week' events leading up to the war, the actual backstory comic and fictionalization won't be launched until the 25th, when the War officially starts.

TL;DR

*Tor pre-order is out. *GJW starts September 25th *Jonuss is HOU QUA. *Vally and I are looking for recruiters. *Artifacts Program coming soon.

And that's about all for this time. If you need anything, shoot me an email or a PM on IRC.

Also, Alec's Guinness shirt is beyond awesome.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet.

You forgot Xen getting promoted.

GAH.

Mad props to Xen'Mordin for being promoted. He's a stud, and has been kicking untold amounts of rear for Scholae. Check his dossier out for the sexy pile of reccs he got for that.
