Wiki Tribune Report

Assorted Plottings

Well, the GJW is over. I guess that means back to work. Congrats to everyone who participated. Even if you only did one thing, that's a seal. And those are cool too. With regards to the wiki, here's what I'm thinking about doing with regards to the articles. Everything will stay as-is in the GJW X Category mistakes and all, if there are any. The winning articles will get manually copied to new, properly named pages and a link to the original placed at the end in a trivia section or something like that. Then the winning stuff can get tweaked as much as anyone wants to, but we still have a permanent record of all the event articles. I'm not entirely sure what to do with the templates most Clouses (CL_an/h_OUSES) came up with for their week 3 and 4 entries. Maybe a mix between Tal's Week 3 and NS's Week 4 as the "keeper"? Might have to do an audit to see what other artifacts we have lying around so we know what they'll need for an all-encompassing template oh yeah, big words. If anyone's got any other ideas for a good way to do this, feel free to share them in the comments (or IRC PM if you're shy).

Image categorization. Oh my we had some problems with this during the GJW wiki events. Even afterwards, I saw a member who uploaded an image with a note that basically said he was too confused with the rules on it and wanted a staff member to just do it for him. So, this is a failing on my part or at least we'll claim it is and the rules for this need to be somehow simplified or made less intimidating. Something. I don't really mind going through the list of uploaded files each day and fixing a handful, but obviously I can't do that for an event that's marking based on adherence to wiki standards. So, I think we need to look at ways to make the upload image instructions more accessable. Again, comments are welcome. Really encouraged in this case if you've been having problems with it. I don't bite unless you're made of delicious Halloween candy.

X of the Y

 • DJBWikipedian of the Month for October 2011 - Solus Gar

 • Featured Article of the Month for November 2011 - None

Awards of the Month time! For October Solus Gar is the DJBWikipedian of the Month (again!), primarily for his work with the Eras template as well as the idea to separate out common information about the various fighter articles (such as the B-51 B-Wings). For the featured article, no articles have enough nominations. So, the DSS goes unclaimed this month. Pretty pretty DSSes that aren't going to good homes to be loved and cared for. You can help give them homes by heading over to the Featured Article page.

Conclusion

Got ideas? Gimme gimme gimme. And adopt a DSS today!
