Wiki Tribune Report

Assorted Plottings

Wow. The release of TOR this past month was really noticeable on the wiki. One day we had quite a few edits to patrol, the next we've got practically nothing. I know TOR is the younger, more attractive activity...but surely the wiki being faithful all these years is worth something? It still loves all of you. Don't leave us :(

Being just a little less dramatic for a moment, activity did pick up again a bit after the initial week or two. So you didn't manage to kill off the position of Wiki Tribune. Take that MMOPGER! You haven't beaten me yet.

Waldron's Ultimate Enemy competition ends tomorrow (Jan 5th), so if you want to submit but left it to the last minute now's your chance. Putting assignments off until the night before is the key to success, don'tchaknow.

Any tips for those of us interested in being better wiki-ers, Mr. Tribune? Glad you asked! One thing that pops up on occasion is sometimes people clobber each other's edits. What this means is, you're going along happily editing your page and probably making your changes in some local document. Suddenly, someone else has made a change! Then when you copy everything from your document into the wiki box, you overwrite the changes someone else made. This is bad. I promise, when one of us makes a change to your article, we're helping make it better. One way to help prevent this is by keeping the "edit" tab open for as long as you're working on it. The wiki software in that case is smart enough to say "Hey, someone else was working on your page. You may want to look at their changes".

X of the Y

 • DJBWikipedian of the Month for December 2011 - Shadow and Solus Gar

 • Featured Article of the Month for January 2012 - Cotelin-class Star Destroyer

Hurray! Featured Articles! For the first featured article of 2012, we have the Cotelin-class Star Destroyer. The article went from being not much more than a stub to an article with pretty pictures and text and things. As for the DJBWikipedian of the Month, I'm cheating a bit and choosing two (two staff members who've been chosen before at that!). The two of them cleaned up an absolute ton of images that needed additional categorization, and it'd be irresponsible for me if I didn't recognize them for it. So, go wiki team!

Conclusion

Don't leave the wiki for TOR, if you're going to submit do it quickly, I have things in the X of the Y section.

I object!! How can you have a wiki page about a capital ship in which I am the namesake that doesn't have a single mention of me?

Objection!!!

Cause you are just a Tool Jac.... :)

See what happens when you leave me for TOR, Jac? We start forgetting about you :(

Cool new picture of the Cotelin-class. Where'd we get that from? The Tal Paint job on the Justice is pretty good too!

I still haven't forgotten the Wiki. I visit it everyday and check for new things and see if I could add anything to my Character History. WIKI is AWESOME!!!
