Rollmaster Report

Welcome to another edition of the Rollmaster report. Since the last episode we've gotten the results and awards from one phase of the Dark Crusade and are now neck deep in another. Now, I don't think I need to tell you how awesome it was to win the last round and how it's not going to be easy to win this round with a different format. Been there, done that. There are still a couple of observations I wanted to report on since I think they might be informative.

I'm not going to dwell too much on the fact we saw a marked decrease in the number of entries from round 2 to 3. There are a number of factors that play into that. What I found particularly interesting is where it was we lost entries. The biggest single event drop off was in, of all things, graphics. We went from 17 graphics entries in round 2 to 9 in phase 3. Seeing how this is a rather easy category to get a participation point in, this is rather odd to me. It's more odd that we lost another 6 entries in gaming. That's 15 entries we could have gotten with only a little effort. Now, I don't bring that statistic up to put anyone down. I bring it up because I'm genuinely curious what might have caused this. Much like our new XO of Karness Muur, I'm all ears folks and I'll pass any feedback I get up the chain.

Now that I've brought up the past, it's time to focus on the present. Despite the fact that this phase is going to be won or lost by only a select group of folks, whom I know are hard at work on their entries , everyone's contributions still matter. One important thing to keep in mind is that if you're not on the special forces, you have your own pool of folks that you're competing with for Novae. Take the RO for instance, if you contribute to that, you're more or less guaranteed a really nice shiny to add to your medals. Seriously, I'm not kidding. Go get a nova, like, now!

Closing Inspirations

I've talked a lot in this section before about how I, and others, tend to like to write to music. Actually, Silent actually asked for our advice on this very topic. I just happened to be on Skype with Solus when I got that e-mail and we had a good discussion on the topic. We agreed that some of the best source of tracks for action style fiction, which we are heavy on, are the soundtracks of , well, action heavy movies. Solus, having just seen the movie (and he'll tell you all about its awesomeness), suggested the track to Pacific Rim which is available on YouTube. This month's music inspiration comes from the soundtrack of another recent movie for this purpose Ready, Aim, Fire by Imagine Dragons off the Iron Man 3 soundtrack. This is also what I want you guys to be doing in terms of crusade submissions.

Oh, and your moment of Zen, a evil rabbit video! </block>
