Scholae Palatinae Quaestor Report

Quaestor Report

Hello Scholae Palatinae! This marks my first Quaestor Report on the new website! It is also my first time using Markdown for a report so bear with me if there any issues here.

July has been a long month full of Crusading and AWOL Checking so lets get into this so you all can go back to enjoying your summer. Also if you haven't read the just released Voice report right below this please do. It breaks down a lot of information when it comes to grading the fictions.

Break

Now the recent Grandmaster Report broke down the scoring for our SF team on Ashas Ree. Our Runon came in second, and Archangel managed get a 3rd place in the Graphics Event, and 2nd in the Infection Horror Fiction Event. Arch is boss so make sure to congratulate him on getting those hard earned placings. Rounding out Top 5 in events includes Mayda getting 5th for the Graphics Event, and myself getting 4th for the Horror Fiction and Poetry. Taldryan and Tarentum put out some incredible stuff this round, and congratulations to all their placing members as well. It was a fun round.

Muz also mentioned a few other very important Crusade related items in his report. First is that the next round it tentatively scheduled for August 18th, so we have a few more weeks of down time. The second is that he and Raken are looking at rewards for units that don't hit that 1.5 participation mark to get an extra person on the SF team. Our overall participation was pretty low this round, so lets shoot for that high 1.5 this next one, and if not, lets try to at least go for whatever bonus they decide to throw out there. Don't be afraid to participate this coming round. Literally the worse thing that happens is that you don't place in something. And you run the chance of earning some nice rewards, illusive Crusade only Ribbons and awesome merit awards for working hard. Finally there was a teasing tentative start to the next Great Jedi War next summer.

Now some of you may have noticed that over the last few rounds, Sarin (or Pravus if it makes you feel better) has been putting some of the winning fiction entries into a folder for everyone to go look at. This is an excellent way to see what some of the best fictions have actually been in the club. I liked this idea, and per the suggestion of Mayda, have started up a Scholae Palatinae specific folder to highlight amazing work from our very own. At the moment it just has two fictions from myself and Arch's fiction from this round because that was all I had readily available in throwing it together. Expect to see more fictions in there as we go along. And of course if you have your own fiction that has placed in anything, or that you are just particularly proud of, send it my way and I'll see it added. Go and show off some of that hard work you have put into them.

You can see the folder here.

Break

I hope by now all of you have had a chance to check out the amazing new site. Getting a DB site that wasn't a decade out of date seemed like an impossible goal, but thanks to countless hours of coding by the SCL Staff, and in particular James and Arion, for getting us here.

Along with the new site switch, came a AWOL check. The MAA people have the list of those who are getting sent to the Rogues, and our House numbers is going to be about half of what it was. We are shedding a lot of weight here, but I am very glad to see so many of you still active and responsive. As always, it is good to hear from you guys and to know whats going on. My door is always open if you have suggestions, issues, need to vent, share exciting things, etc. If you need to throw something at someone I can even point you toward Xantros who makes an excellent target.

Break

With this break in the crusade, we have some competitions running. At the moment we have two, one from one of our JM and one from Mayda. They are quick, easy and fun so let me highlight them for you quickly here.

Icy's is Can you beat the only level?, and all you have to do is go for the quickest time to clear all the stages.
Mayda's is a return of the Sushi Cat that was very popular during the Summer Games. First level high score.

The summit and myself are also looking at getting some competitions opened up now that we know the Crusade isn't hitting this coming weekend. Expect to see some emails on those soon.

Outside of all of that, I am working on the final edits to the Scholae Palatinae Starters Guide a project I've been working on for a few months. It is a supplemental document we are planning to provide to new members just so they have yet another reference for some of the massive amount of stuff there is here in the DB. If you want to see a copy of it as I finish it, let me know. It shouldn't contain anything surprising to long standing members, but it is something I hope helps our newer members and any other people that join us here in HSP.

Break

Well that is it from me for this time. I hope you all are continuing to enjoy summer. Until next time.

TL;DR

  • July Crusade is over
  • HSP Fiction Highlight Folder is awesome
  • New Website is mega-awesome
  • AWOL Check is closed
  • Do the fun House competitions
  • An extra point cause I felt like it

For the Empire!
