Taigikori Joins the Ranks of the Elders - Promotion

What we'd like to do at this time is recognize Taigikori Aybara for his work and devotion to the Brotherhood. Justicar is a lonely job. Often unpleasant but always vital. Taig goes about his work seriously and always keeps the interests of the Brotherhood above all others. Muz and I, and many others in their recommendations, would like to formally say "thank you" to Taig with what is probably one of the greatest recognitions we can bestow...

Promotion to Elder

Taigikori has proven that he belongs among the Brotherhood's elite members. Now it's time we recognize him as such.

Taig, from a grateful Brotherhood, please accept this promotion to Dark Adept.

Well done.

Congratulations, Taigikori!

For those of you who are unaware; I had first met Taig in online gaming (LOTRO), and since then he has introduced me to the wonderful community here at the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. He has always been a friend and mentor, and this promotion is well-deserved. Grats man, you've earned it.

I've known and worked with Taigikori since he was Praetor to the Headmaster, through his term as Headmaster, and now as the Justicar. He has always fulfilled the duties of his jobs to the best of his abilities. Justicar is easily the most un-appreciated job in the DB. It's almost impossible for the Justicar to do his job and not anger at least someone in this club. And Taigikori has had to deal with a lot of cases where it was easy to feel like everyone came out on the losing end of things.

To my knowledge, Taigikori has done all of this without complaint, always making sure that he had active Hands of Justice and a current Appeals Panel, so that he could do his job. What is that job? To protect all of us and to protect the Covenant. For that, regardless of whether or not you agree with the decisions he has had to make in the various cases that have come before him, he deserves our thanks and gratitude.

Thank you, Taigikori!

Congrats buddy, you earned it.

Congrats, man. It's been a long time coming.

Congrats!

Congratulations!

Also, for everyone, here is the full write up.

Justicar is likely the most unenviable job in the club. When we are forced to turn to the Covenant, rare it may be, it is often under less than pleasant circumstances. As the Arbiter of the Covenant, the brunt of that unpleasantness often falls on the shoulders of the Justicar. As a result, those shoulders must absolutely be both broad and strong in order to carry the weight of the office and responsibilities therein. And, on occasion, those shoulders must be lowered and brought to bear in the face of controversy, criticism, and open hostility. Sometimes, the only way around is through. Taigikori is one such Justicar. In his tenure he has had to face some of the Brotherhood's most controversial cases. He has had to make tough decisions for the good of us all and he has had to do it under intense scrutiny from every corner of the club. He has done so with dignity, competence, and fairness. No more could be asked. No more could be given. Such is the work of the Justicar. For his service and contributions spanning many a trying time, it is only fitting that Taigikori join the ranks of the Elders and with that, bear all the responsibilities and enjoy all the privileges therein. Thank you for all you have done from a grateful Brotherhood.
Raken, Deputy Grand Master

The Justicar of the Dark Brotherhood can be the sleepiest of positions for months at a time. It is the one position that we require less of when things are going exceptionally well. The test of the Justicar is not those times, but in the times where things are not going well. We need Justicars who are capable of handling their duties in accordance with the Covenant when they are called upon. This includes cases that are unpopular or cases that require the punishment of popular members. Unfortunately the nature of the job results in Justicars receiving an exceptional amount of criticism and very little praise. Thankfully, we have the systems in place to ensure our JSTs are rewarded and this system is one of them. Taigy has had his fair share of criticism and has taken his fair share of lumps, but he has done his job and he has done it with the best interests of our club in his heart. We can't ask any more than that from the JSTs. His promotion to the Elder ranks of our club is commensurate with his maturity in facing the adversity of his position with skill and elan. Thanks for your hard work and patience.
GM Pravus, Voice of the Dark Brotherhood

In a club such as ours there are always those who are seen unfavorably due to the position that they hold. One of these people that is seen in bad light is Taigikori, as Justicar of the Brotherhood, he is easily the most disliked person in the club. As a member of his staff for the last couple of months, I have been thrown into a part of the Brotherhood that i've never known before. This club is built on a foundation that gives members certain rights and protections and when one of these are broken, a member finds themselves before the Chamber of Justice. Taigikori has shown that he is repeatedly up to the challenges of the very unpopular job, even when he has had a book of insults thrown at him or his judgement thrown into question he has always remained steadfast and stands by the Covenant in how to handle the situations. The job of Justicar is a hard one, it leaves those who wear the hat in an unpopular spot and it is quite thankless, however I am writing this recommendation for a promotion of Taigikori as a way to say thank for the work he has done.
Exarch Teu, Left Hand of Justice

Taigikori's first action as Justicar was to appoint me as his Left Hand of Justice and I have been on his team since that time. I have seen first hand the work that he has put into his duties and the pressure that he has been under, as is a large part of his job. Despite jabs, insults, and profanities thrown his way, he has been unshakable as Justicar of the Brotherhood. He never allows his personal feelings to get in the way of ensuring a fair and impartial trial and considers all of the evidence at hand prior to making a decision on an action. All of this is what every Justicar is required to do and be. Two major amendments have occurred under his tenure: extending the HoJ terms and Appeals Panel terms by 6 and 3 months, respectively; creating the Electorate, which adds the Quaestors of Houses not affiliated with Clans to any vote required by the Dark Council as dictated by the Covenant. He has presided over eight cases since taking the reins from Kir and his performance in all of them, regardless of how unpopular the results may have been, has been exemplary. I have watched him dismiss cases the instant he sees exculpatory evidence. He is also the first Justicar to send a trial to the Appeals Panel to ensure that the Covenant had been followed to the letter when he saw the size and scope of a case that shook the foundations of this club. Despite the questions of his character, the personal attacks on him, the off-colour and backhanded comments thrown his way, he remains unshakable. He has served nearly two years of excellent duty as Justicar in the Brotherhood and I am proud to recommend that Taigikori Aybara be promoted to the rank of Dark Side Adept to join the Elders of this great club.
Alaris Jinn, Right Hand of Justice

The Brotherhood has a lot of myriad roles, and not many are more reviled than that of Justicar. The Justicar is our executioner, our tax collector, our police man. This is a role that every society must have to maintain order, but no one wants to deal with them personally.

It is not a well loved position, to be the one who must punish those who do wrong. Three times in the last 9 months, there have been high profile cases coming throuh the chamber. These cases polarize individuals, make them feel so strongly that it's easy for our members to forget decorum. Ultimately, it is one of the most difficult positions, and one of the least recognized by the populace. The amount of work that he has to do, the amount of stress he goes through is unbelievable. And yet, he has had enough time to work on various other projects within the club. And it seems that every time he clears a hurdle and looks for some new place to make his mark in a more positive way, more of the negative work pops up for him to take care of.

Now, a normal member would only be able to take so much of this. They'd keep their cool for a short while, then resign. But this is not Taigikori's way. He has plowed through it, bearing the brunt of anger and converting it into creative energy. He worked to help grade vendetta events up to the crusade. He has worked behind the scenes to try to improve the brotherhood from the perspective of his old haunt, the shadow academy. He has worked to help finetune the covenant, which gets tested with each and every case. Yet, none of this work gets the attention that he gets when he wears the black hood.

It's important, though. Important and worth noticing.

You are among very few people who can do this, among very few who could thrive under that stress and come back for seconds. Taigikori has been an elder for some time. It's time we recognize that on his dossier.
Thank you.

~Muz Ashen, Dark Lord of the Sith.

First time I came into contact with Taigikori, (Taig, not sure you recall this) was when he challenged me to an ACC match. I recently (2 days ago) came across the email with the judging comments (if you want to see that taig, mail me and I shall send it). GRD Taigikori Aybara v. JH Ood Bnar.

Mate, you earned this. Keep up the good work and you'll reach Prophet before too long!

From Raken's rec: "Justicar is likely the most unenviable job in the club."

Truer words have never been spoken. I remember when I was offered JST once... but wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. For someone who has not until now even been an Elder to have endured in such a spot is commendable, and so both my gratitude and congratulations extend to Taig. Well done, our newest Dark Adept! :D

Thank you everyone for the kind words and congratulatory responses. It took me by surprise, and put a smile on my face.

Ohhh! Congrats Taig! (I should read the news more often ;) ). Well deserved for that hard work!
