Fist of the Brotherhood Report #12

We've seen a busy month for the Club's Gamers. Contact Information is even easier to track down thanks to our amazing Coding Team, we've made a DJB Starcraft 2 Clan, SWTOR Operations have been consistently running and the Crafting side of the Guild has been updated, and Star Citizen is about to launch Organizations (Guilds) on their website! Read on for more details...

Dossier Contact Information now available on Unit Rosters!

A week or so ago I started trying to collect members Game System Contact Information in a Forum thread... this was kind of like herding cats. So after a bit more thought and A TON of help from our AWESOME Coders we're happy to have a new option available to everyone.

Previously everyone's Dossier listed Contact Information for a few different systems, like TOR, Playstation, and Xbox. We've added Steam and Battle.net Information there as well for you. Who wants to look through each Dossier individually to see if someone has a Steam account though? Certainly not this guy, I'd rather be gaming.

The Coders were able to create a Contact Method Tab which has been added to each Unit Roster, visible when a member is logged into the site. When you click this Tab you have the option to Filter across all of the Contact Methods listed in each person's Dossier for the Unit you're viewing. So when going to Scholae Palatinae's Unit Roster then selecting the "Contact Methods" Tab and Playstation ID you'll get a listing of all members in that unit who have included that Contact Method on their Dossiers and what their Playstation ID is. Simply proceed to send out massive amounts of Friend requests.

Now... what do we need from you? Update teh dossierz! Add in those Steam Account Names and Battle.net IDs, update old PSN Tags or Xbox Live Profiles. Its now easier than ever to track down other gamers across all supported platforms! Take advantage of it, and game on DJB!

Note: If there's any Contact Methods we don't have and you think we should add just let us know, adding them if a very simple process.

Starcraft 2 DJB Clan and Group are now up and running

Continuing on with the theme of making it easier to find people to game with... with the help of Marick we've created a Dark Jedi Brotherhood Clan (TDJB) and a Dark Jedi Brotherhood Group for Starcraft 2. Some of you may be wondering what is the difference between a Clan and a Group, and why did we create both. I'm glad you asked...

A Clan is similar to an MMO Guild, you can only be in one at a time. So for our members who haven't joined a SC2 Clan yet, this is a way for them to get some slick Clan stuff next to their username (it displays as TDJB), unfortunately DJB was already taken. Even if you still join the Clan, I'd recommend joining the Group as well...

A Group is more of a loose Community, players can be in up to 20 of these at one time. So for those club members out there who may already be in SC2 Clans, you have a Group to join to help you find other members from the DJB to game with.

And how to find each of these? Get in contact with Marick and he can send you an invite through the game.

  • Clan: Dark Jedi Brotherhood (TDJB)
  • Group: DarkJediBrotherhood - yes there are no spaces in it.

Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO Operations and Crafting Updates

Since the end of the Dark Crusade we've seen a steady increase in the amount of Operations being run in the SWTOR Guild. These include Terror From Beyond as well as Scum and Villainy, in addition to several attempts at Dread Fortress and Dread Palace. The majority of the Operations we've done are on Story Mode, which lets members see end game content and (hopefully!) pick up a few upgrades without causing the stress of a Hard Mode or Nightmare Progression Raid. If you've always wanted to see end game TOR content, but didn't want to have to deal with crazy complex fight mechanics with no room for error these are the Operations for you! Hop on and check them out!

We've also been doing some TOR Guild Administrative Maintenance. The game allows a maximum of 500 people in each Guild, the DJB Guild was coming close to hitting that mark so in order to continue recruiting we removed some characters that hadn't been logged in for the last 120 days. In order to minimize impact to DJB Club members we did our best to only remove folks with no Dossier Numbers listed. That said, if your character did get removed and you'd like to get them back in, the Fist Staff and TOR Officers are only a PM away. I'll also be putting out a reminder prior to any large Vendetta/Event to make sure your characters have Guild Tags so they can be used for it. There was also some changes amongst the TOR Guild Officers, the TOR Wiki Page has been updated and should show the correct list of individuals with Officer Ranks. On the topic of Officers, as these changes were going through some went into effect in game prior to those individuals being contacted about it. Naturally some folks were surprised and not too happy about this. Again, I apologize for that confusion and will endeavor to make sure we handle this better next time.

The DJB SWTOR Guild Website now has a Google Form linked to the Crafting Department Section of it. The link for the item itself shows what the components are, which you should gather or acquire off the GTN (Auction House), then by clicking "Request" next to these items you'll be able to place an order with the Guild's Crafters to make several different pieces of equipment for your Character. We're still in the process of updating all the items we are able to craft, so more things will be added to this page as we progress and reverse engineer better designs. Here's a short list of the Crafters we currently have:

  • Cethgus - Synthweaving Augments (Purple)
  • Valkish - Artiface Augments (Blue)
  • Valhavoc - Biochem Adrenals (Blue), Biochem Stims (Green)

Star Citizen Organizations are coming soon

In Star Citizen Organizations will be their form of Guild Structure. They'll be implementing them on their website next month, with each Organization able to have a Forum, Ranks, Roles, etc. Now we're still about a year away from Game release (probably?), but we'll definitely be starting an Organization on the Star Citizen Site when the option becomes available.

The Game will have five different Organization Types. These archetypes are a roleplaying element only, and will not impact how the Organization actually functions. I've copied over the description for each Organization from the Star Citizen Transmission and included it below (with modified comments for one)

  • Corporation - a for-profit business entity. A corporation is a great choice for everything from shipping flo-pets to Goss II to organizing a hostile takeover of Origin Jumpworks.
  • Private Military Company - For organizations with a taste for combat. Focuses for PMCs include escorting cargo runs, hunting for pirates or helping the UEE take on the Vanduul.
  • Faith - Organizations that have come together for a single cause or under a single banner. This could be rebels fighting for Terran independence… or the devout followers of the Force!
  • Syndicate - Common interest groups for those who operate on the edges (or outside) the law. There’s safety in numbers when you’re moving contraband through Spider or preying on hapless cargo ships.
  • Organization - Want to make your own way without any previous association? Feel free to leave your group’s archetype blank!

So, what kind of Organization would you like to see for the DJB? Head over to the DB Gaming Forums for Star Citizen and add your comments to our Organization Thread there. Or if chatting about Organizations isn't your cup of tea, perhaps you'll enjoy this Star Citizen Transmission of the development of the Dogfighting Module, set to go live this April?

Jedi Outcast Server Retired

Last report I mentioned the low traffic on the Jedi Outcast server. We had some feedback from folks through the comments section, but the general feeling from members was that if the Server wasn't being used to drop it. So effective 01Jan2013 the DJB JO Server was offline. Nothing says it won't return for a month long special appearance around some future Vendetta though...

The platform itself has been transitioned to a Tier 2 Gaming Platform. You can still earn CFs from it by playing online like any other supported Platform, you'll just need to locate a public server to use.

Great report, FIST Val.

Do matches for the Top Gun competition have to be completed with other members or can we play solo just for the comp?

^ I was also wondering that.

On the topic of crafting, I ask in complete ignorance: what's the advantage of strengthening the crafting side of the guild? How does it help?

Members who have dedicated time into leveling up their crafting are able to asist other members by crafting gear, or other items for them. That's my take anyway.

That, basically. It saves us the high costs of high-level mods for gear, to make our characters able to handle the high-level operations better :)

I think all ToR activity requires a minimum of 2 DB members - unless explicitly stated otherwise

Yeah, but that is for earning CFs. This is purely killing people.

Crafting related - Basically what others have said. Some of the items listed there are top level Augments, that sell for 100k on the GTN. Or if you get the mats you get it for free from one of our folks. Stims are a nice bonus to be used on any Operation, although I need to successfully reverse engineer the ones that persist through death still. Adrenals are used less, but still useful during a fight that has a "burn phase". Its really just a matter of saving a few credits.

Top Gun Comp - I'm following up to see what Valkish intended here. In the past I've run similar comps for Warzones which did not require you to be grouped, so this could go either way...

For the Top Gun comp, you can run it solo.

Ty Valk, original News Post has been updated to reflect that. :)

Update: Contact Donny (Uji) of the Fist Staff now to handle invites for the SC2 Group/Guild. I am staying as an officer and can help as well.
