Communication Update

A disturbing amount of unsolicited interference has forced me to apply a filter to all communication devices attempting to contact the Herald's office.

Henceforth, all communication, official or otherwise, directed specifically to me that is not part of the automated system shall be prefixed with the following:

[DB]

Any message not adhering to this standard will be lost.

Use [DB] in the subject when you mail me anything, unless it's through one of the automated mailers (the DC and Summits are ok). Massive amounts of spam have forced me to apply a rule in Outlook to sort through for the "[DB]".

I receive approx. 40 messages a day and about 36 of them are spam. I've given up on skimming subjects to see if there's any DB business from a random member.

Wouldn't it be easier to get a new email address?

[DB]

Isn't it far easier in the long run, though, for you, as one person, to take a few minutes a day to skim through your email than for however-many-hundred active members there are in the DJB to have to remember to prefix their emails with a tag that 99% of them will forget exists in a week?

I don't see a problem in Kaine asking for people to do that. [DB] isn't that hard to remember. But then again, it also might help make sure people don't forget if mention of it is made in his weekly reports.

It may be easier to get a new adress, but that won't help the spam issue that much. From experience, all DB used addies encounter this issue over time. Just not as fast with the log in thingy now.

This isn't a damned debate. Either do it or I don't get your mail - Period.
