DB IRC Guide posted!

From the proposal given to us by DA Pyralis:

"The Enchiridion
The discovery of IRC has for a long time now stood as a turning point for many members in the Dark Brotherhood’s history. Almost every leader of the Brotherhood has used this medium and has encouraged his members to interact with other clan members with IRC. Though, as Headmaster Spears recently noted, no study has been done to determine how effective IRC is at grabbing new recruits and propelling them into a far more long term relationship to the Brotherhood, it is almost without doubt that IRC plays a very significant role in ensuring the future activity of those members who discover it. It is mysterious (or perhaps not) that IRC should help to secure the future of the new membership of the Brotherhood.

New journeymen go through the process of joining, confirming their request, and then entering the auspices of Dark Fury to complete the Test of Lore and enter a clan where further familiarization, first contact, and mentoring occurs through the Society of Envoys. For many, this is their first exposure to another real living being within the Dark Brotherhood. Sometimes this is the beginning of a wonderful friendship and entrance into the fraternity where members will begin a long-term process of discovering the Brotherhood.

We create the Enchiridion to offer another piece of infrastructure to the nascent journeyman on his path towards Infinite Darkness. The Enchiridion (or DB IRC Guide as it will be more commonly known) aims to explain the process of
1.Downloading IRC
2.Installing IRC, and
3.Running IRC and /joining #DB.

It explains the importance of IRC and its significance on one’s career and later enumerates the various channels of interest to the new member, and informs him of where to go for further information about using IRC."

Pyralis and Shadow each created for Tarentum and Taldryan, respectively, an IRC guide for new members coming into the clan. Pyralis propsed that we take the two guides, combine the good points and make one central guide for members to refer to.

I have taken the guide and placed it online. You should see the "chat / irc guide" link in the comm section to the left.

Summits, I strongly encourage you to embrace this concept with new members. We all know that IRC can be the difference between active and inactive members.

Again, a huge thanks to Pyralis for this, to Shadow for the inspircation and to Korras for some channel suggestions.

Your Emminence,
Should there not also be an entry for those who cannot download IRC, pointing to the webchat at www.undernet.org? Some of our members cannot download the program. Thank you for your time.
