Then, we'll petition the SHW to make a smaller, aggressive capship of this class and you can all have a Predator or three in your Clan - DJS Wampa, DJS Ronto, DJS Wookiee,... etc :)
Actually, Autarch is not a "big, bad GM-style ship name." Autarch is an absolute ripoff from a Sov-class ship name, and it's not even a GOOD ship name. It's as bad as Heresiarch. And if this ship gets named the Autarch, I'm going to name Lenzar as my replacement for SHW. :P
Well, hell - if you wanted a big, bad name that would strike terror in the hearts of our enemies in the first place, you should have just named it "Oberst."

I voted for the Exodus, because Autarch sounds like a bird name, I know it isn't but something in french sounds very similar to it, and well, Predator is just as unoriginal as it gets. NOW.

Actually, Autarch and Predator are both bad names, but when it comes down to it, Predator is the lesser of two evils. I prefer Leviathan, myself, but it's rather apparent, that name doesn't have the best chance. Autarch is a bad, BAD choice. Personally, I think a name should be chosen based off of what the ship is meant for. Is it a symbol of a despot, an absolute ruler? No. It's meant as a symbol of strength, a symbol of independence, a symbol of self-assertion. The Brotherhood is no longer bound by simply using the castoffs of the Empire. I don't think any of the current names relay that fact, to be honest.
But the ship is also meant to be the terror of the Brotherhood. This is our massive warship that will strike fear into our enemies, and will bring about the conquest of the Unknown Regions. We are not the absolute ruler of the Unknown Regions, nor are we the absolute rulers of Antei. Fictionally, there are still discoveries to be made, and native populations upon Antei whom we do not subjugate at this time. The Brotherhood is, however, a raptor. We are a mighty predator, who can be unleashed. We are a bird of prey whose talons are ready to rip the soft underbelly of the galaxy open. In that "flight of fancy," Predator works better.
Either way, Autarch is bad. I'd also like to note, Goat mentioned, "Don't think, vote Autarch!" I say, use your minds, think, and don't just do what people tell you that you should do. Be proactive, think for yourself, and decide what you believe to be true.
Well, technically Vail, the new flagship doesn't even come close to the Sov-class SSDs in size. It's meant to be a bit bigger than a normal ISD, but only by a couple hundred meters. The Sov-class was around 15-16 kilometers long. This ship will likely be 2300 meters long or less; so we're not competing with the EH on ship bs. But yes, Autarch as a name is still bad.

For all the talk about how bad Autarch is as a name I've yet to see any reasons why it is bad.
Opinions are not reasons.
As everyone else has said. Think. Consider. Predator is cliche. Has anybody actually given you a REASON why Autarch is bad other than just their own opinion?
Actually, yes, I have. For your benefit Goat, I'll restate them.
1) Autarch was a name used for one of the Sov-class vessels, as was Heresiarch, and the Despot. It's a bad idea to use a name for an extremely smaller vessel. It's a bad idea to use the name of a stupid ship, anyways. Yes, the Sov-class SSDs are a dumb addition from Dark Empire.
2) Goat stole this name for a VSD already. No, the VSD isn't sticking around, but it had been the name of the "Serpenti flagship." I don't like the idea of jumping ship names around "just to get it used somewhere," and that's tacky and, again, a bad idea.
3) Autarch is a name that means "absolute ruler." Currently, the Dark Brotherhood is not the absolute ruler of anything. Nope, we're not. Fictionally, we share the Antei system. yep, share. Not "we allow others to live here," or "we brought them with us." They were here, we worked out a treaty with the indigent species, or whatever. Our territory is "ours," but it's not absolute. It may be for the Clans, but if that's what we go off of, then an "Autarch" should be a symbol for the Clans, not the whole.
4) Predator is a bad name as well, but it's better than Autarch. The ship is all black, and is basically designed to be unseen, and creep up to strike when you leat expect. If it were a representative of "absolute power," it would be readily visible, recognizable, not hiding behind anything, but utilizing sheer power and authority to conquer. This ship is not anything that can be called Autarch. It's an impressive vessel, meant to have some pretty awesome firepower, but it's not a visible display of dominance.
5) My personal preference from among the final four is actually Leviathan, but it's clearly obvious that Autarch and Predator will be the final two, unless something unforeseeable happens. And the fact it, though Predator isn't the best name, it's more suitable than Autarch. And when you have to choose between the lesser of two evils... I guess something cliché is better than something that Goat just "wants somewhere."

There's also been an ISD Victory. The existance of the Victory-class ship didn't stop them there.
I stole the name from my own creation? The VSD Autarch has never been officially approved and was only used during the GJW. Nobody ever seemed to want to officially approve it. That being the case we currently have no ship name Autarch, thus it seems like a pretty bad waste of a good name.
Dark Jedi seek to rule. This is the Star Wars galaxy, we're not playing Dungeons and Dragons. There's a very good reason why Palpatine is called "evil" and why the Jedi try to kill him "just because he's a Sith".
Who said the ship is black? All we've had so far are wire mesh designs. If the ship is black perhaps that should have been said when we were suggesting the names, eh? If you recall I originally wanted the name to be Shadow.

What I did say was, 'I guess something cliché is better than something that Goat just "wants somewhere.'" Not "what you want," but what you "want somewhere." I don't like the idea of naming it Autarch because "we should have a ship named Autarch somewhere," which is the impression I have gotten of your push for it. However, this still does not change the fact that my reasons for arguing against Autarch are not "because Goat wants it." My reason is, it's simply a bad choice, and I've given additional reasons as to why it's bad.
