What's in a name ?

It should be no big surprise that, once the roleplaying system goes live, we will have a type of society for this purpose. The organization of this society is supposed to be simple, with the titles available only designating a certain level of certification - competent player, gamemaster and advanced gamemaster - instead of being a detailed record of activity.

Now however, the society does need a name. The fictional background for this is that the members of this group are the agents of the Lord Hegemon who roam the subjugated world and provide the Brotherhood (and themselves) with all kinds of resources, may the natives agree with this or not. Thus, I am looking for something suitably dark and oppressive, yet it should be a bit euphemistic in nature - putting "oppressor" in there isn't going to take you far. If you think of Anakin on his mission to pay the Viceroy a "friendly" visit, you have the image the name is to evoke in the terrified masses.

I will collect name ideas in comments under this post and then make a poll out of all suggested ideas plus my own - the most popular one (possibly after several voting rounds) will be the name for the new baby and also net its creator a shiny.

You have a week to make your suggestions (you can enter several names). Please only post serious name suggestions as comments to this post!

Hegemon's Shinobi

  1. Ministry of Truth
  2. Harbingers of the Hegemon
  3. The Hegemony
  4. The Veritas Society
  5. Bringers of Order

Obsidian Zephyr

I have decided on this title because the word order conveys mystery, foreboding, and power.

Obsidian has a double meaning; A hard stone to symbolize resolve and determinantion and the color black to symbolize shadows and darkness among other things.

Zephyr is an amusing synonym of "wind" as in current, and a Sith of any kind (Krath, Obelisk, Sith) must be like wind. Swift, powerful, and, in the case of Tornadoes and Hurricanes, deadly efficient.

((Apologies for the double post))

And here are a few that I have not enough time to detail:

Hegemon's Harriers

Death Heralds

Harbingers of Despair

Sycophants of Chaos

Masters of Discord

( I still like my first one the best...)

Hegemons's Hos

The Shadows of Hagemon?

How about the Dark Predators?

Ok you can all attack me now!

Advocator.

The Dark Eye
The Arbiters
The Hands (of the Hegemon)

How about Dark Harbinger?

Mine sounds ominous. You guys stink!!!
VOTE KRATH!

Bellicose Wing

Shadow Juggernauts

The Marching Hordes

The Bellicose Godheads

Spectrum Warpath

Sabled Dopplegangers

Eyes of Darkness is a CSP Battleteam.

I like the Obsidian Zephyr idea. Unfortunately, I can't seem to come up with anything myself right now.

The Dark Reavers
The Aphotic Reavers (aphotic is synonymous with dark)
The Reavers of Hegemon

How about a simple "They"? You know: "Oh, no! They are coming!" "Who they?" "THEY!!!!!"

Or, a good old soviet style "Commissar" for members and "Commissariat" for society. It gives a certain feeling.

Inquisitors is nice, plain and simple.

Emissaries.

And BRS - Brotherhood Revenue Service sounds very omnious.

Shadow Weavers
Dark Masons
Dark Smiths
Shadow Prowlers
Ambassadors of the Darkness
Ambassadors of Shadow

The Grand Master's Hand

Why? To keep a touch of the Star Wars universe in our club's blood, the Hand reminiscing the Emperor's Hand, Mara Jade (and possibly others) who devoted themselves to their Master an the Empire and encomplished solo missions.

Cy

Something to invoke fear and terror in our enemies... like the Spanish Inquisition.

"No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our main weapon is FEAR!"

So... yeah. Something like that. The Dark Inquisition? Shadows of the Dark Lord?

The Scarlet Crusade

Scarlet as in bloodyyyyyy
Crusade as in we ownz j00

  1. The Fist of Order
  2. The Ochre Hand
  3. The Black Savants
  4. The Heralds of Penumbra
  5. The Arisen
  6. The Fallen
  7. The Gauntlet
  8. Subjugators
  9. The Thralls of Hegemon
  10. The Omega Order

I suggest we stick away from Herald (or any other names that have been already settled as DC position)

And guys, stop trying to be so damn dark, we're not a satan club, we're Dark Jedi STAR WARS club. Try and come up with names that fit star wars!!
