Brethren,
Over the past two years there has been frequent discourse within the Dark Council about the state of the DB Clan system. Throughout that time, there have been many people opposed to removing any clans, and many people for it. As a lot of you know, I have been on a mission to reduce the number of leadership positions in the DB, so as to concentrate members in more active groups and create a list of duties that will keep a leader with work to do. In this, I have always supported closing or merging a clan. In the past, Mav has been the person that has kept me from doing so.
About five days ago, Mav approached me about the possibility of merging two clans. As Deputy Grand, Mav has been observing the clan activity and has realized that there is a problem brewing in the DB: we are losing too many new members by making them lead too early and then losing them for lack of experience. While our membership numbers have grown, we have not been reloading our leadership core as needed.
To help solve this, we are closing two clans and reopening them as one. Clans Satal Keto and Exar Kun are closed as of right now. They have been merged together to form Clan Plagueis. This new clan will be a dominant force in the DB. Former Grand Master Chi-Long is leading the clan. Within it are houses Exar Kun, Satal Keto, and Bane.
This is not a decision that I come to lightly. It's not a statement on the leadership ability of those in either clan. It is simply a reality that we need to deal with that we are missing a "middle class" of experienced members in most of our clans. Plagueis will be dedicated to training members to fill those positions in the future.
I realize that this will come as a shock to some. It's not a pleasant thing to do, but I believe it's necessary to keep a strong membership and leadership foundation within the clans. The histories of these proud clans are not lost. They are simply added to this day. I hope that the traditions within those clans will be continued and forged into a new set. Clan Plagueis will help bring a bright future to the DB.
As a side note: the systems and strongholds of Satal Keto will be kept under Dark Council control for the time being. All possessions of both Exar Kun and Satal Keto will be given to the new clan.

Rest in peace, Satal Keto and Exar Kun. May you rise again one day, when days shine brighter. The times are always changing, and I fear we need to change with them, a constant vortex of dizzying motion that may itself one day rest.
(cue the Emperor voice) Now rise, Lord Plagueis. Do what must be done.
The one thing that comes to mind is, "Holy shit, 192 people." Heh. This is an opportunity for the members of both Clans to become united as a Clan, and really show off some dominance among the other Clans. I truly hope this is a step forward for everyone, and I hope you see it as that, as well, and make it a move for progress. Good luck to all.
I think this is one of the best moves the DC has done in a while. GJ guys.
My only slight concern is that this new Clan is now going to be much, much, much bigger and more powerful than all the others and therefore lead to a stagnation of activity if people realise there's no point trying to beat it.
But hey. We can take the challenge. Bring it on, Plagueis =D
