The Grand Master's Royal Guard has a protracted and repeated history of inactivity, stagnation, and general disinterest. There are, of course, numerous reasons why numerous individuals have consistently failed to resurrect the Royal Guard; bad luck, bad leadership, lack of skill, lack of appeal, horrid organization, horrible implementation... all of these things are best left where they belong: in the past.
In the coming weeks, I will be working in close tangent with Jac, Mav, and Bloodfyre to completely restructure the Royal Guard. I would like the Royal Guard to remain an elite and competitive entity--as it was originally intended. And I would like the Royal Guard to focus primarily on multiplayer gaming, specifically games which are team-oriented (such as Allegiance and Battlefront 2). Conversely, I don't want the Royal Guard to be so elitist that it favors people who win games all the time over people who never win games at all. Anyone who participates often will advance in rank (although people who win often will advance in rank more quickly).
To address the concerns of current Guardsmen, I will not be flushing the roster. Instead I will devise and issue a series of challenges to all current Guardsmen. Success will permit you to remain in the Royal Guard. Failure will result in your ejection from the Royal Guard. I will post more details about this challenge later in the week. I urge you all to participate!
Lastly, I am not accepting new applicants for the Royal Guard at this time. Ask me once and I will ignore you. Ask me twice and I can assure you that you will never ever become a Guardsman... neither under my tenure as CoG... nor any of my successors tenures. You will be castigated from our ranks and inducted in the GMRG hall of shame where you will forever be mocked and ridiculed. Just be patient, Ill probably start accepting new applications in about two weeks :P

A couple of years later than expected but this could very well be the thing the GMRG has been needing for a long, long time.

I have a couple questions that I think others will be interested in hearing answers to:
1) Will the current design of the GMRG, as implemented when Jasru became CoG, continue? Should we instead look for a reoganization, revision, or complete change to is infrastructure?
2) Recently, I've seen that the DB likes to participate in the established gaming events. The superposition of the GMRG society on top of that seems to have met with little success because people like to play for those gaming events, report their matches for those gaming events, and earn CFs from those events. Reporting matches for the nebulous idea of the GMRG has been a foreign concept, met with little incentive and purpose. How will the GMRG be used with gaming within the DB so that it is seen as a unique entity, separate from the weekly gaming events that we see in the DB today? Will you be relying on a tournament structure? Specific assignments that guardsment must participate in? etc etc.
