ICTE: Year in Review

The Inter-Club Training Event has gone through a great deal this year. Pyralis took it over late 2004 and turned it into something more, something greater. He put a ton of effort into it, came up with record keeping, a website, new incentives to bring out members, and actually got into the games as well. Pyralis is one of the reasons it has been successful.

You the members are what makes this happen above all. Since I started playing in the ICTE back in 2003 it's been all about the games. That's what keeps me going. I started with XWA and JK. I sucked at both and probably would still today. I've played XvT, FC, BF, BF2, JO, and JA since then and continue to play several of those. I hope for most people the fun of the games is what drives them to play. Whether I'm getting blown to bits in my fighter, cut in half, or rocketed to death I've had fun. All the incentives we can throw out are nice and rewarding, but should always be secondary. It's an awesome experience to come out on a Saturday and play some exciting games with my fellow DB members and our allies. That's the reason we have this, that's a reason for the club being here as well. I would like to thank everyone for coming out this year and spending their time with others enjoying the games. It has been fun and I'm sure it will even more so next year.

In a year the ICTE has grown more popular reaching around 40 members at some events and averaging around 20 or so at a normal event. We've had our allies show up more and more towards the end of this year. We welcomed the Galactic Empire and the Galactic Imperial Order into the ICTE. We'veawarded thousands of Clusters to our members. We had some excellent specials and incentives. We have seen new games come out and played them. Most of all, it's been a lot of fun. Again, thanks to everyone that has played this year.

Before I end this rambling, we have some special rewards to give out to those that have stood out above everyone else in participation this year. Over this past month I've been adding things up and now with the ICTE over it is complete. We had 165 DB members play since January. 34 of those attended and played in at least 10 or more events over the year. With approval from the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master, the top five participation records excluding myself will get some nice medals. With several people tieing, we have more than five being awarded.

  • Maar-Tyrius BruthKothae Ga-Tir Tarentae or better known as Smoke has been an absolute pillar of DB gaming activity this year. Out of 51 events, he has made it to 43 total. That's just amazing. Smoke has been a great player and I look forward to him playing next year. Personal thanks for all our matches, never a bad one. Ma`ar is awarded a Grand Cross of the Dark Side (GC). Congrats!

  • MERLANCE and Kraval Novir both played in 23 events out of 51 this year. Outstanding showings from them. Thanks for your dedication. MERLANCE and Kraval are awarded a Steel Cross (SC). Congrats!

  • Vardar Fen'Amar Ordo and Acxodim "DV" Pyralis played in 20 events out of 51 this year. More superb records here. I wouldn't expect anything less out of these two. Vardar and Pyralis are awarded a Steel Cross (SC). Congrats!

  • Archean "Shazwazza" Bruth'Kothae and Frosty Romanae finished the year attending 19 out of 51 events. Wonder job guys. Archean and Frosty are awarded a Star of Antei (StA). Congrats!

  • Last but definitely not least, Horus Blackheart Jade attended 17 out of 51 events. From the second event in January to the last event of the year, Horus has been there. I appreciate the dedication. Horus is awarded a Dark Cross (DC). Congrats!

Those above did a marvelous job this year and we all recognize that, keep it up next year! Just in case you didn't get the pattern of awards above, I'll break it down here. 1st got GC, 2nd and 3rd got SC, 4th got StA, and 5th got DC. The full results of all 165 players this year can been seen here.

One last round of thank yous and that's it for me, I promise. Thanks to Jac and Kir for lending me their ears and support, thanks to Kraval for stepping in for me at times, thanks to Pyralis for all he has done for the ICTE, and a final thanks to all those that have been part of the ICTE this year. I wish everyone a very happy New Year and may 2006 bring new and exciting things to each of you!
