Say goodbye to the old rubbery robes! Say hello to some nice Muzzzzzzed up ones!
Muz emailed me yesterday with the first installment of the Robes project, and after a quick hack of the dossier code, we're away! This is a temporary update until all of the robes sytem can be completed -- it covers every rank iteration up through DJK, and then has a Equite robe, Elder robe and a GM robe. There are variations on the orders too. Elders and Equites -- you'll be able to get custom ones soon enough, so this'll have to do ya for a while.
Just as a temporary measure I am having the pictures resized via the browser -- that's why the lines may look a little blurry atm. Each robe on the dossiers is a link to the full-sized pic. I am going to have Muz do some resizing in the program he uses so we don't lose that quality.
Huge thanks goes out to Muz for his fast work on this project. It is coming along at lightning speed and very high quality. I am most pleased with it!

Anyway, these are temporary fixes...a placeholder until the final ones are set up... (and as far as layout, I'll be getting these shrunk down so it doesn't spazz out the layout of the dossiers).

Muz, they're good. As they are preliminary, we can expect to see even better ones in the near future. I am especially excited to have a building tool much like the lightsabers so I can see all the various combinations.

Well, people keep misinterpreting what temporary means. :P The final robes will be more shaded, and have a more complex texture to the fabrics. I should have a sample of a fully rendered DJK robe set for the coming report.
My office door is always open for comments and constructive criticism (although if you just say 'It sucks', you're not helping me understand wtf you're talking about). I do read all email I get, and I do make a lot of adjustments to my projects based off of feedback I receive.
Mike and I disagree alot; but sometimes, we just disagree on varying levels. Are these robes awesome, and spiffy, and breath-taking? No. But then again, as an initial option, and something so that people can see what's in store, they're not so bad. Sure, they're not 3D or anything, but honestly, given the talent possessed by Muz, and his staff, should we doubt? Should we automatically go run and grab the pitchforks, and burn the motherf**ker right now?
No. Sit back, be patient, enjoy the ideas that these should provoke your mind to form. Be creative. Think a little. Personally, I kind of like the mental image I'm getting. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Promote Muz. :P

My spies have recovered for me several samples of the Robes that will be released and lets just say I am impressed with the quality. The current versions I would say reflect the style the new robes will have not the quality of final pictures.
However I must say BF missed something in his post. Take away Mikes rank and give it to Muz :-P
No, no, no. We have to keep Muz at Pontifex so that the robes of that level will be kick ass. I mean... I do this for the good of the DB at large at this rank equivalent. It's not just for me... no... stop looking at me like that.
Mrahzorastical. The old robes simply do not compare with what we have now. 3D or not, these robes are much better. If these weren't temporary, I'd still be happy with the results.

Come on guys wtf. Do you think this is easy to do? Do you think we don't also have real life issues to contend with? I mean wtf is your deal and what part of these are temporary don't you get? We're over here giving hours upon hours a day not only making robes, but sabers, warbanners, other graphics as needed, and many times many other projects. I know this isn't most the political way to handle this but how about being appreciative every now and again instead of overly critical of things when you have no idea how hard people work to create and implement said things.
Unfortunately, Shin, it's part-in-parcel of being a leader. People will bitch if they don't like it. Don't worry, your work is appreciated by those who know.

Right...I think all the people that can't keep their critizism to a constructive level need to keep the mouths shut. I think the work so far is very good, and I can' wait till the next versions make their appearance. Think of it this way: The more crap you all dish out, the more the HRLD Staff won't want to make anything for us anymore. I'm not saying that is fact, but just think about it...yea, I'm done. Good job guys. :-)
The old sabers and robes were great...for the time. A lot of these old graphics were generated around the time of the first Prequel...yes, they're that old.
Now, with 3 more movies to reference, we have a lot more source material to draw from. So, they looked dated. That's all... And no disrespect to the original artists...they did the best that they could with what they had. I can only hope that my work lasts half as long on the site.
Well the guys doing the robes are working something that could possibly be really nice, I cant complain. I hated the old robes something fierce. Aside from that Keep up the good work, and dont let those that say, "They suck" bug ya....there nice and I cant wait to see the final version of them.

Well, some quick work on my part, and a quick code fix by the jac, and our dossiers now look a lot better, and a bit more like what we are used to... go looksee. thankee, Jac!
The new stuff is looking great guys, don't sweat the whiners. The only thing I'd add as far as the robes go is making them more easy to see against the black background. Other than that, I'm eager to see the final product! :)
Aye, I completely agree with Salth. I'm having a hard time seeing the images; they need a white lining or something to stand out a bit from the blackground. But other than that, I know theres more to come so I'll wait until then.
