Darth Plagueis novel announced!

Well, we all knew it'd happen eventually, they've scheduled a novel about Darth Sidious and his apprenticeship to Darth Plagueis for October 2008.

James Luceno, author of the bestselling Cloak of Deception and Darth Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, has been contracted by Del Rey Books to write a novel about Darth Sidious and his Muun mentor, Darth Plagueis. As is to be expected on all matters of the Sith, details remain obscured by the shadow of the dark side, but in time, more will be revealed.

Yes. Darth Plagueis was a Muun. I didn't see that coming either.

Oh please, Oh please let the Muun thing be a joke. A sick twisted joke where Darth Plagueis is a skinny little twit alien.

Hmmm a Muun, why not? since most of the followers of the sith order where as mixed in species as the jedi. Palpatine only enforced his prejudice on aliens other than humans or zabraks in his empire.

Let us not forget that according to the old sith legend of Dath Plagueis was called the wise, so I am assuming that he was a great sith alchemist.

/me laughs as everyone changes their species to Muun :D

Seriously, though, I think it could work. Having Palpy's mentor be a Muun would explain his connection to the Banking Clans. Plagueis as a Muun also provides an explanation for Palpy's scheming: Muun aren't physically strong, but are mental giants, so Plagueis would be able to teach Palpy how to scheme and connive. I wouldn't be surprised if Plagueis turns out to be the one who devises the plot to bring down the Old Republic. He would have the connections to the Banking Clan/Separatists and the mental power to devise it. Palpy may have simply heard the plan then slaughtered Plagueis to reap the benefits of the plan.

I quite like it. I image he'll probably be a lot more like the character Palpatine was before ROTS, i.e. a master of the dark side who can kill you just by thinking it, who is far above the need to use a lightsaber - which would fit with something Palpatine says in Dark Lord.

Alternatively, he might be a bit like Darth Vectivus, and just not be as much of a total power hungry nutcase as Palpatine. In some ways, since the Sith prior to Palpatine had to stay hidden, it makes sense, as they wouldn't have run around waving their lightsabers in people's faces, so wouldn't have needed to be heavily built.

hmmmmmmmm, sounds interesting i shall look into reading this I was courious about palpys beginings
