The Battle - part 1

_OOC Preface: This "official record" of the battle of Antei is being written with the goal of giving all the top players of this GJW some heroic exposure, keeping their contributions on record for posterity. I hope to depict all characters as truly as possible, going by Clan OOBs and the stories that were written in this War, but some errors are bound to happen. Sorry for that in advance.

Also please realize that this is just one of many possible accounts of the battle. You should not take my version into account when writing your Clan runons since it will likely be incompatible. _

"All forces are ready as commanded, my Lord", the voice of Kaiann Entar came through the intercom in the makeshift Grand Master office.

"Excellent", Jac replied. "Launch the attack at three in the morning and show that red imposter what you are made of." "Oh, " he added after a few seconds of silence, "you have my permission to take the armor, code three two seven alpha nine four havoc. Use it against our enemies."

"Forces in place and ready for invasion. Tarentum fighters on standby, the Plagueis troops are ready for deployment on the south side, Naga Sadow is moving to the west and will be there by two", Muz summarized the preparations for his Grand Master, outlining the deployments on the oversized war room map.

"A very solid plan, this should ensure a swift victory. Now, before you go, I want you to have this." Jac produced a tarnished silver ring that radiated an extreme power in the Force.

"Mylord, are you sure of this? What if something happens to it?", Muz replied.

"You will need it. I know the enemy has something of equal strength and if you want to stand up to a Grand Master and his little cronie Entar, you need every advantage you can get. Wear it as a sign of my authority and use it for the best of the Brotherhood."

"As you wish, my lord", Muz said, bowing deeply. He cradled the ring of Darth on his palm for several seconds before finally putting it on his finger.

"All squadrons ready and waiting for your command, sir", Merlance radioed to the Corsair.

"Roger that, take off at your own schedule. Send two flights after that Palatinae encampment in the canyon, they seem bothersome."

"Acknowledged. Troutrooper, take Mu and Omicron flights and go after coordinates 17035 to 4426. Cleared for takeoff."

"Aye aye."

Six TIE Interceptors emerged from the Anubis and streaked towards the planetary surface of Antei.

"Picking up six unidentified vessels, course due west", the Novice manning the Arcona radar station informed his superior. The Quaestor briefly looked at the screen and cursed. "Damn, Tarentum fighters". He turned towards his intercom. "Malidir, Smoke here. Six incoming craft. Intercept."

Four V38 Phantom craft launched from the makeshift hangar into the dark sky, turning sharply northeast before quickly gaining altitude.

The upper atmosphere of Antei was even more an ionized mess than most planetary gas covers. Navigation in its dark reaches was always a combination of five percent instrumentation, twenty percent visuals and seventy-five percent reliance on the Force. Long before any sensors or eyes could detect the oncoming craft, Troutrooper sensed the approaching Force signatures.

"Omicron, fall back and take the alternate approach, we have company. We’ll try to keep them off your behinds."

As the three interceptors veered south and down, Troutrooper fully concentrated on the controls of the craft that was much too small for his Mon Calamari tastes. He preferred to be on the bridge of a capital ship, but having only recently returned to the Brotherhood, there had not yet been a command post for him to occupy. So he contended himself with the unusual role of fighter commander and made himself the promise to take the first blood in this war.

"There they come. Two, left flank, three, rear guard. I’m going for their right wingman."

At a speed of over five thousand klicks per hour for each of the fighters, the first encounter in the battle of Antei was over in less than a tenth of a second. Meeting at heads-on courses, the two groups of fighters exchanged two volleys of laser fire of which none hit any target. Troutrooper’s flight spiralled down to make a 180 degree turn and gain pursuit in the fast Interceptor craft. They quickly gained on the four Phantoms who were making a dive, obviously having noticed the Omicron craft taking a different course. Trout focused on the rightmost of the four vessels whose pilot seemed to have some troubles keeping up with the maneuvers of his wingmen. He locked his sights on the small craft and launched a seeker missile. The perfectly aimed projectile bloomed into a massive explosion, obliterating the Phantom along with Acolyte Mashar Tcha’if, first casualty of the Antei battle.

The rest of this writing (part 1 of 3) can be found on the GJW plot page as usual.

Why do you people who run GJW's and other events use such pathetic formats for your stories. The way its done is annoying. Use some true paragraph forms for crying out loud.

I'll happily upload a better formatted version if you provide one. But I am sorry I do not currently have the time to spend hours on layouting this fiction.

On the GJW Plot page, I think you should've added "6 - The Battle" to the original table instead of creating a table for itself (unless you wanted a strange effect) because it looks weird in Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6.

"I do not currently have the time to spend hours on layouting this fiction."

Thanks Sunshine but we already noticed that.

Thanks Revenge - fixed.

hmmm the most obvious solution to me would seem not to use Mozilla/Firefox :P

Nah I tried it earlier with all my browsers and it didn't look right. Tis ok now though.

I do not know Kaiann from Adam but damn it seems like y'all give him a hell of a hard time for what appears to be a lot of effort. Maybe it's just good-natured ribbing and I am missing the point. Either way...damn.
