Gaming Staff Vacancies

Hey everyone,

First of all, I thank Smoke for all his work as Tribune, our Gaming wouldn't be what it is without him, in my opinion. :)

So the point of this post is that I'm now taking applications for two Gaming Staff members. With my appointment to Tribune, that leaves one vacancy; the second however is because I'm officially labeling Dessan as "support" - he won't be doing normal GAM stuff, just server support and that fun stuff. Therefore, I'm going to need some people to work on things with me, and to help with #DBGaming, among others. :)

For your information, Melkor has been experiencing some technical problems with his computer and is unable to get on IRC or servers at this time; he is however able to check email and forums, so he'll be staying on the staff. :)

Responsibilities
-You'll be helping to monitor #DBGaming (Gaming Nights, SITs, etc...)
-You'll be working on projects for new competitions and things to improve Gaming
-You'll be answering questions to your ability and offering help to those who ask for it
-You'll be making sure the RoC is followed, as well as advising on behavior matters, etc...
-Anything else that we work out....:)

Requirements:
You must have a good knowledge of the Rites of Combat, as well as a good email turnaround time (please, 48 hours at most, if possible), including ideas to improve gaming and expand our areas. You must be willing to work for the better of the Brotherhood's Gamers, as well as to work long hours on silly projects (not too long, and not so silly) that I give. :D

Preferences
I'm going to look especially well on those applicants who have a strong knowledge of any of these platforms: JO, JA, XvT, XWA, BF2, EAW. Those italicized platforms are ones in which I'm extremely interested in having Staff that knows them, including ideas to make it better and more enjoyable in the DB. :) I also would love it if you could be on IRC, because I like using it to talk and stuff....:P While not a requirement at all, just make sure we have a way to stay in semi-frequent contact. :)

Make sure you tell me why you should be selected, and what you bring (especially concerning game knowledge and ideas) to the Office. You are free to include any references that you wish, but in no way is that mandatory - I leave it to you.

I will take applications for these spots until the 22nd of October ([Log in to view e-mail addresses])- that means you have 6 days to get it to me; I will select and announce the new GAMs in my bi-weekly T:G report (they go out on Mondays.....;)).

The thing I'm looking for most in these, is that you make a good case to me as to why (remember, knowledge of BF2/EAW especially is great, but so is it of other platforms). :)

Have a great week of gaming, and let me know if you have any concerns or the like. :)

Isn't all of the stuff you've laid out...your job? I understand server support needs Dessan's skills and knowhow, but the rest just seems to me like you're spreading your workload among others. YOUR workload. The position isn't Gaming Tribune*s*, it's Gaming Tribune. Singular. One.

You are correct, however, I can not possibly hope to oversee the operation of #DBGaming single-handedly, due to the nature of the 24 hour events that occur over the week. Furthermore, I can not hope to always be there to answer any and all questions whenever someone has one - so, that is something the Staff will help with. With projects, certainly my point of view on things won't be the best or the most feasible, so having multiple people working on it will bring many views and ideas to it, which ultimately will make things better and more diverse, in my opinion.
