Merry Christmas Around The World

So, I just sent an email to Tarentum, and I feel inclined to share some of it with everyone here.

Merry Christmas. Happy Hannukah. Seasons Greetings. Happy Holidays. They all mean the same thing, for the most part. I bring this up for a specific reason. I come from a predominantly christian background, and even though I am not exactly an active, dedicated christian, it still has an effect on me. I tell people "Merry Christmas," because that's the greeting I grew up with, and so on. Others grew up with "Happy Hannukah," or anything else. I happened to tell someone "Merry Christmas," and she replied to me, "Not everyone celebrates Christmas, I'm Jewish." She was being bitchy about it. My response to her was, "You could've told me 'Happy Hannukah,' and that would've said the exact same thing to me in less words, and you probably could've said it with a better attitude, too. And that'd spread holiday cheer, bitch." Yeah, not the nicest, but seriously. I can tell people to have a "Merry Christmas" just as much as they can tell me to have a "Happy Hannukah," or a "Happy Holidays," or whatever. This is one of those seasons where it's all about spreading the holiday happiness/holiday spirit, so keep that in mind. Who cares what you say, or what others say to you, just make sure you do it with the best attitude possible.

A special "Merry Christmas" goes out to the soldiers of this world. I'm not interested in whether people are happy with the current wars and such, I'm just interested in the men and women who are far from home, and doing their duty to serve. My cousin left for Iraq on December 3rd; he's a Marine Sergeant out of North Carolina. He leaves behind a wife and two sons, and a family that loves and misses him, and wants him to come home safely. That same story is echoed throughout hundreds of thousands of families and lives, and across many countries. No matter who you are, what country you come from, or what uniform you wear, if you're away from home and family, I want you to know that I wish you a Merry Christmas, and please, come home safely. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Nice. I'm not that much for praying, personally, but I'm replying to this with a big amen.

Amen to that. We all seem to have grown resentful of other people. This time last year, I would say "Merry Christmas!" to one of my pagan friends (who'd later become my girlfriend), and she'd cheerfully reply "Happy Yule!" This is exactly what should be happening. People getting offended by the word "Christmas" really need to relax. Bloodfyre, I couldn't have said it better. BIG PROPS to you, man!

Merry Christmas to you all!! :D

Yay, BF is still edgey and crazy like I remember him! But seriously, I love the fact that people believe this, because I hate feeling like just because I come from the majority of the population, being a Christian, I have to be ashamed of my heritage and avoid using phrases like Merry Christmas.

When was the last time you heard a Christian bitch out a Jew for them wishing them a Happy Chanukah? Never gunna happen, why? Cause we're the majority and it would be wrong for us to say anything. Ridiculous. Talk about equality people.

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Diwali, Kwanza, Yule and every other statement that just means the same basic thing "I wish you all the best in this festive time of year."

Hells yeah.

I hope everyone comes home safe as well... and Happy Holidays.

Wishing you all Seasoned Green Things.

Yay!!! Christmas!! I love Christmas!! Christmas' cool!! I love gifts!!! Yay!!! Christmas!!!!! Merry Christmas [or whatever] to you all!! Yay!!

Good words, Sith. As a Christian myself, I will say Merry Christmas. But, I don't mind others who celebrate different holidays.

Though, this reminds me of my high school orchestra teacher. He is a converted Jew, but every year he put a small Christmas tree up in the orchestra room, and said we could bring presents "for his dogs." But, holiday cheer all around.

Happy Winter!

Sorry guys you are all completely wrong...

All of those things are wrong for us because it should be.....

Merry Sithmas!!!!!!

Mahahahahahaha

well then,

Merry Sithmas and a Krathy new year

let's hope the Obelisk calling himself Father Christmas will make sure everyone is with their families for the holidays.

In my opinion, it doesnt matter what you call it. Im a pagan, and I say merry christmas. Christmas isnt about words, its about the feelings you're supposed to get and give, and its a time for hope!

So merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Indeed, happy holidays! Have a festive and safe (or at least relatively safe) holiday season! :D

I don't care much, so long as I get presents... :P

On a more serious note, I hope that all our brothers and sisters serving our respective nations in war-torn areas of the globe have a safe "holiday" whilst serving away from home and family.

Merry Hanumas and Happy Chrisnuka.
