As of midnight my time, I am officially finished with my leave and back on the job. I quite enjoyed my vacation and am pleased to have made arrangements regarding the next three years of my life (heh). So now back to work.

As I did not have time to properly do this when I was first re-appointed, I will take this opportunity to reintroduce myself to the Brotherhood as a whole. I am Dark Side Adept Syn Kaek and I am your Master At Arms. This is the second time I have served as Master At Arms and including my Praetor experience, I have served in this position for just under two years total. In the past, I have held a number of different positions on the Clan level ranging from Battle Team leader all the way up to Consul. I have been a member of the Brotherhood since 1998 (barring my stint on the EH’s most wanted list for a year heh).

I’m going to assume most of you know who I am and how I operate beyond the historical summary but in short, I am very demanding when it comes to recommendations, promotions and medals but I also strive to be as fair as possible. Don’t hesitate to come to me with questions about how something needs to be done or whether or not I think someone should be promoted, etc.

A few very important things to note as I begin my second tenure: firstly, we will be conducting an abbreviated family census to make sure all the information pertaining to families is as recent as possible. Kraval actually started this himself before he left. Secondly, following the Independence Games, it is possible and very likely that one of the Kaek-patented Super-AWOL Checks will take place. Details on that will be made available after the Games and when a decision has been made.

Lastly, I’d like to highlight one very important change that is coming your way. MAA Policy 10 (regarding double-dipping and the relationship between medals and promotions) is currently under heavy revision. For the time being, Clan leaders should be aware that awarding someone a merit medal will not significantly delay a deserved promotion. Please refrain from ‘saving up’ activities to reward someone: no more Dark Jedi Knights without a Dark Cross. I am actually encouraging leaders to be a tad more liberal with lower level merit medals. Once we’ve finished completely revising the policy, the details will be made public but for now, use common sense – thank Jac for the remand system.
