CNN Holograms

CNN Holograms

I'm not going to talk about politics, but I am going to talk about holograms. While watching CNN during the American elections, I was amazed when they started to have an interview with people by hologram! It was pretty sweet, they appeared and were a little fuzzy and everything, although they had color. The interview I actually saw was with Will.i.am, but this one in the below link is good, too. She mentions a little about how they do it first.

Note that this post isn't about politics, it is only about a cool piece of Star Wars technology being used in real life. I may be wrong, but could we say Lucas more or less came up with the word "hologram"?

Enjoy,

Great information, very exciting, though I hate to say I think Star Trek came up with it first. But I can't remember if in TOS they had holodecks and the like.

I'm going to have to be Kaekey and say: No - Lucas did not. Holography has been around long before Star Wars. Plus CNN's crap was completely unnecessary and stupid-looking.

Just sayin' :P

Gonna agree with Kaek here. Holography was invented in 1947 by a Hungarian physicist. It's also derived from a Greek word.

CNN is whack, by the way.

Its still very interesting how far technology has come. This could lead to a whole new meaning of Virtual Confrencing.

I would like to see the transmitting side of the "Hologram" and see what it takes to actually make it happen.

That's if it was real and not some TV gimmick, or if you don't need a TV screen to see it.

That's sick.

Very cool, but tending to agree with Kaek and Legz, here. It's stll awesome. Though Lucas did alot with holograms...like pazaak and dejaric. To bad it's CNN that showed it first though.

CNN pawns and the hologram was sexy, I want to see what they are going to do with it now.

This amuses me. It's about time CNN does something other than documenting celebrities lives as if they were E!, but now watch them blow it out of proportion and take it for granted.

Oh well, still great to see this sci-fi tech coming true.
