Dark Sage Writing - Taking Applicants

I am now taking applications for the Advanced Writing Course. Course will start Oct 5th.

Applicants should be aware that this course requires a lot more work than the normal Shadow Academy courses. While by no means a University level course, the intensity and the methods taught will require previous creative writing training. The ability to analyze, deconstruct and compare works is a must. We will be doing a lot of this to understand what writers mean.

Interested Applicants should contact me with a writing sample. Use your best sample, and be prepared to have it shared with others in the course and deconstructed by them. I have 14 spots, with applications closing Oct 2nd. I will inform people of decisions on Oct 3rd.

Reading material for this course will be provided, except for a copy of Go Tell It On The Mountain by James Baldwin. Buy or borrow this. Reading will be assigned from this, and will be necessary starting on day 1 of the course, until the end of the course.

** EDIT: Since I keep getting asked the same question - I don't care what the writing sample is of. I just want your best. If you think your best was from the last GJW send that in. If you are one of the short story writers for Details, GQ, Esquire, The Rolling Stones, and you think one of those is the best, send that in. **

Am I the only one that finds this entire course patently absurd?

wait aren't you a Med Student?

Seriously...don't go buy a freakin book for a course of questionable worth for a fictional degree in an online Star Wars club. I mean...I'm just sayin'

Only if the teacher for this course was an actual professor would it be not only interesting, but beneficial to a Literature or Writing Major. I love to write, but I wouldn't go buy things for this either. I'd borrow.

He's not forcing you to sign-up. And buying or borowing a book, any book for that matter is a good thing these days. :P I'd sign up if english was my first language.
