News

I was planning on holding off on writing another report until after the upcoming RoS but I have realized that many people (and the Brotherhood) could benefit from a few short pointers aimed at improving their wiki literacy. Today we will look at images:

*Images over 1000 pixels in either dimension will (usually) not display correctly on the wiki and will need to be re-sized.

Unused and duplicate images **will* be deleted by the Wiki Tribune, if you upload an image make sure you use it straight away to avoid having to re-upload it.

*An image which does not relate to an article is of very little use and, as outlined in the Editing Policies, "unless you have a paragraph discussing the image and tying it into the article, it will be deleted. Just throwing up an image because it relates to your character is not enough, explain why it is there." The wiki staff are about to start getting tough on this policy (it was instituted back in January 2007).

Tip of the Report

Signing your posts prevents readers from getting your messages confused with those by other users. Therefore, it is considered proper "Wikiquette" (WI-kee-ket) to sign your messages on talk pages. To do this, add four tildes (~~) to the end of your message. When you save the page, these will be converted to your signature and a date stamp. To sign without a date stamp, use three tildes (~) instead. The default signature for your account is your username, but you can customize it in your preferences menu.
