Clan Naga Sadow Consul Report May 2010

Rem nimium bene gerere, in solitudo esse.

I've got a fair bit of stuff to talk about this month, so let's have at it.

First up, on a Clan level; we recently found the perfect person to follow on from Taig as Proconsul of CNS. That person is the one and only Tsainetomo Keibatsu Sadow, so give him a big hand, everybody! I've known Sai for an age myself, so I'm looking forward to working with him and helping CNS continue to kick copious amounts of arse.

Secondly, we recently reshuffled HLK's leadership a bit; the former leader of the Bastion, Teu Pepoi, has stepped up to the position of Aedile to work alongside Dyrra. Congratulations, Teu- we look forward to seeing what you do in the role!

Thirdly, Muz recently sent out a spreadsheet of new ground forces for all the Clans to purchase their armies from (as you'll have seen in his recent Grand Master report). I got the completed sheet back the other day, and trust me- you guys get some fun toys to play with. In keeping with the Dlarit concept, the Summit have organised it so that there's a central defence force garrisoned on Sepros that can be deployed where necessary, and two other garrisons (including armour and infantry) on Tarthos and Aeotheran. However, the Tarthosian and Aeotheranian (I don’t know if those words are right, but they're certainly awesome) garrisons will be reporting to an ARC Commando who is the Garrison Commander as well as to the House leadership, and that ARC Commando reports to the central Dlarit Command on Sepros. So no running off in an AT-ST to stomp all over the Markosian City, people. :P

Fourthly, we saw the awarding of Clusters of Ice to all those who've been participating in Unrest In The City; I believe those were also the first Clusters of Ice awarded DB-wide, so you guys can all feel pretty special. :D The run-on continues to be full steam ahead, so keep at it; we're hoping to give out Clusters of Ice to the top posters every month, so by squeezing out just 2 posts a month (a measly 250 words each), you can net yourself a shiny new medal. At the moment, we're all relocating from Seng Karash to the lush resort of Lor Zatean for a nice beach holiday. I mean, uh, to kill some bad guys. Get stuck into that!

Fifthly, in a couple of days I'll be totting up all the scores from this month's Doom Train; everything that you've all been doing has been noted down on a list, and I'll find out who the top three placers are from that. I'm impressed with how long the list is and how many names are on there- you guys have been doing a lot this month, so very well done!

Now a little bit of DB-wide news: Halcyon Taldrya was made the new Voice of the Brotherhood recently, and has been bouncing all over the place, announcing new Brotherhood-wide competitions galore. I'll be detailing those below, so this is just to point out that they're a great way to get high-level Crescents. Also, the position of Fist of the Brotherhood was filled by Smoke, who has also been dashing all over the place bringing the club's gaming together. Check his news posts and sign up to the Dark Brotherhood Steam group if you're on Steam!

  • The Ground Forces update is done, so w00t!

  • My current competitions are ending tomorrow, and there's still room on each of them for you guys to pick up medals- hit me up with your entries as soon as possible!

  • Unrest in the City continues- we're going to the beach to kill some bad guys!

  • Kudos for this month goes out to Ekeia Iclo for her promotion to Sith Warrior, and Locke Sonjie for his promotion to Jedi Hunter. Congratulations to both of you, and well done everybody else who's picked up a promotion this month!

Here be competitions, yarr. Goddamn, there's a lot of them at the moment!

I should also be putting a new riddles competition out on the mailing list soon, since my last "The Riddler" went down so well!

This report got loooong. On the plus side, I've now all but finished the work for my Master's degree; one more assignment to do and then it's just the dissertation that's due in September. Okay, so that's 15,000 words, but I've got all summer to write it! :D On Monday I had the joy of giving a research presentation explaining just a small part of my research to an audience comprised of academics and the other MA students in the department; that was nerve-wracking. I managed to make my presentation exactly the right length, though (10 minutes; the chair commented approvingly on me finishing with 45 seconds to spare!) and I think I did pretty well; all the feedback I've gotten has been positive, anyway. Plus, doing the presentation (as terrifying as it was) really helped me draw some conclusions for one part of my research, which I think is very helpful.

Anyway, I'll stop for now- keep at it, everybody!
