New ACC Hall: Genesis Combine

Greetings,

For those who have read my report (and I'm sure that's all of you :P), I had mentioned that there would be a new Hall opening up in place of both the Proving Grounds and Training Annex. Well, today is that day.

I introduce the GENESIS COMBINE. This hall is open to all members of the ACC, whether you have officially qualified or not. It should primarily be used for training purposes (for old and new members) as well as for qualification purposes. Basic rules are up on the site, but I'll list some of the main points below.

  • No battles are formally judged. All completed battles are closed by the ACC Staff

  • Win/Loss counts are not tallied to member's CS's

  • INI's may submit a completed battle to the Combat Master and Deputy Combat Master for qualification judgement (INI must have posted up to the DP)

  • Must wait 1 month before being eligible to submit another battle for qualification, if previous attempt failed

  • All battles follow the regular "ACC Rules" for posting and time-limit, with each battle being 4+2 (4 regular posts followed by a death post from each combatant)

Hopefully, this allows everyone some flexibility both in helping get qualified as well as getting some good training in. This is also useful for veterans who want to try new things without it hurting their own records.

Let me know if anyone has any issues in using this Hall, as well as if you have any questions or comments on it. (Also, if enough people hate the name, it can be changed. Not set in stone yet :P

Nice addition Halc

Alright, now we just need new character sheets! :D

New...character sheets? We got those. :P

Update: There is a problem right now that is being looked into. Initiates are still only able to challenge staff members. This should be fixed in the next couple of days. Until then, please e-mail me directly to have matches set-up. Just ask Clan members or others in the DB if they're available, and I will get those set-up for you

Update 2: Everything appears to be working properly now. Thanks to Scion for getting to this issue. All Initiates should now be able to challenge anyone else in the ACC. Good luck!

Taig: I was referring to character sheets with non-combat related skills in them. :P

1 month to requalify? aren't you afraid of that killing the interest in the ACC? I would think 3-4 days before they could start a new match would be more fitting, or offer some sort of program to cut down the time (an idea that comes to mind is like driver's ed cuts down the time between a G1 and a G2 test)

He didn't say that you can't START a new battle, just that you can't submit finished ones to be judged for qualification.

i.e. if INI finishes a battle and submits it for qualification but it fails he can start (and finish) a few more battles and at the end of the months waiting period pick the best one to submit for qualification.

yes I know that, but whats the point in doing more battles if you can't submit any for qualification for a month. my argument is the qualification time, I'm aware of the fact you can still battle in this hall alone.

Character sheets with non-acc skills are in the works. Just thought i would toss that out there.

Raiju, I hear your point about the matter, but most acc matches (that I've seen in the last year) take over a month to complete and some of them are 4+2 matches like in the Genesis Combine . If a INI does a battle, requests it for judgement and fails, he can go tinker with his CS for a couple days to a week, and then start a new battle. So by the time a new match has been finshed it would have been over a month and the INI can resubmit it for qualification.

Anyways, thats my take on the matter and my 2 cents.

Yes, the time-limit is there to make sure that the qualifier actually learns from their past qualification battles, rather than spamming the staff with battles that won't get qualified. It does take roughly a month for a battle to be completed...this just ensure that the person is basically starting a battle "fresh" should they not qualify in a previous battle
