PIN Restoration

PIN Restoration

With the new site coming up, I have been looking into restoring PINs from old dossiers while copying over the data. If you used to have a PIN that's lower than the one you currently possess (usually the case when your dossier was deleted, then restored later on), it might be possible to get your old one back. No promises though ;)

Please contact me if you're interested. This is a one-time offer, as I can only do this while converting data from the old to the new site, and I'll need proof of your old PIN.

Think I'll have 1653 back. :)

I'd like 7722 back, but yeah no "proof of ownership" :(

And 1120 back :p

my old one was #2, but i could not find anything for it, but i did find and old report talked about me and listed my PIN when to #53

If you're looking for old dossier information and/or proof of ownership, try the Internet Archive. If you're old enough it'll still list your email, and if you still have access to that email you could probably prove that the dossier is in fact yours.

#1337 plz.

Btw, will vacant pins be rafled off in a (sorta) lottery style?

Just thinking of pins connected to deleted dossiers and the pins of ragequitters. Though, if a member doesn't want his/her old pin back, those could be added too.

Could prove to be fun, imo

@Ood: No, it won't. For this process I have to double-check every dossier whose PIN has changed, and while I don't mind doing this for people that had a different PIN before and want it restored, I don't want to give myself more unnecessary work :) Also, who knows those ragequitters might not return at some point, only to find their old PIN used?

@Slagar: Indeed, a Wayback Machine page that in some way traces back to your current profile (e-mail, IRC nick, old name that's also on your current dossier history, etc.) should suffice.

@Taig: You suck :P

Also, I will only restore old DB pins, not EHDB pins.

James, Howie will cry, a lot. And when Howie cries...people notice. :P

When Howie cries, an angel gets his/her wings?

Howie has a pre-split pin. He should be good to go?

If anyone needs to look up an old dossier number, once of the best places is to check out old Dark Voices. We used to compile a static roster with ever DV release so we would have some historical perspective on the club. http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dv/

Also, when did we change the policy on deleted dossiers? It use to be that if you ragequit and asked for your dossier to be deleted, it was permanent and you lost everything for good, because, well, fuck you.

I know that a lot of people that ended up having their dossiers deleted back in the day did so because of the EH policy that anyone that had a DJB dossier, active or no, could get expelled. I kinda see this as the last vestige of the asinine policies of the reactionary, prejudiced EH finally being put right.

Oh -- not talking about those, Solus. Those dossiers are cool to restore. I just hope we aren't allowing people that ragequit and demand their dossiers get deleted to have their stuff back when they have a change of heart.

I also fully endorse the "You Ragequit? Sucks to be you." policy. =)

Triple the Ragequit vote.

Of course. I'm just 'moving' existing dossiers back to a PIN that has once belonged to the same person. in no way am I restoring medals, ranks, or anything else, so as far as I'm concerned the deleted dossier policy is still in effect. Also keep in mind this is something I can only do now, as I have to pass all data on the site through a mapper script to put it into the new site's data format.

And Howie better be crying tears of joy, for he gets his beloved #8 back :P
