House News:
**_Change of Dark Orb Tetrarch:
_**Unfortunately I have not heard from Karan for almost 2 weeks now, and rather then let the situation drag on, I have been forced to draft KAP Anshar into the position. Anshar, previously known as Khan, a past Quaestor of Qel-Droma, is a well skilled and worthy member. I am sorry that Karan has not been availble and I hope all is well, however, I am sure that with Anshar's past accomplishments, letting him lead Dark Orb Phyle is a justified decision.

Big welcomes go out to Novices Kalinor and Kandos Katarn. I apologise for not addressing you personally yet. I have been really unavailable the last 3 days due to friends visiting from Ireland.I was caught off guard and kinda lost my DB activity levels! Anyway - I'm back, so you'll be getting a personal e-mail from me and I'm sure that Rollmaster Korbane will have added you to the mailing list and you can start egtting to know everyone.
Shadow Academy Courses:
It's great to see people taking the SA Courses, not only good for your dossier and ID line, but sometimes they actually help you perform better! I'd actively encourage anyone to do the Leadership study. It's a great little course - not to mention required for any future positions.

**Congratulations go out to Khobai for being appointed Magistrate to the Obelisk High Commander. I'm sure you'll last longer than I did (1 day :P)!!!

DGM Working On A New Version Of The Dark Side Compendium:
Work is continuing on the DSC at the moment, with me now basically waiting on some revisions to come in from other people, including a Dark Hall rework, a History revamp, and a fiddle with the Envoys section. In the meantime, I'm working on Force Powers with the fabulous assistance of my Praetor and the Order Leaders. Hopefully the new Force Section will show expanded descriptions of all currently available Force Powers, plus (always assuming we get approval) powers specifically designed for each Order, and some specifically designed for each Clan. More news as and when.
Herald Office Releases New Guidelines:
Herald Kaine's proposal was implemented and usage of dual sabers is available to Sith Warlord/Obelisk Warlord/Krath Pontifex.
Krath High Priest's Pep Talk:
There are a lot of people doing great work and are not getting rewarded for it. Granted, much of our hard work as volunteers here in the DB will not be rewarded directly. That makes the occasional medal or promotion taste even sweeter.
It is up to you, TET's, AED's, QUA's, PCON's, and CON's to know your members closely and know when they deserve an award or promotion. As my old friend Shups used to say, keep the talent happy! Keep an eye and even a written record of who is doing what and if someone deserves an award or promotion or if they will deserve one in the near future. Don't forget them!
On the flip side, you hard working members, keep your perspective sincere. You will NOT get an award for every competition you participate in, you will NOT get an award for every time you update a website, and you will NOT get an award for simply doing your job for a short period of time. Try to understand and be objective when you or someone else is denied a medal.
If you honestly feel someone deserves a medal and is overlooked, let me know. Tell me why they deserve the award and use exact reasons. That they were a QUA for 5 months and did reports and ran comps, this is not a good enough reason for a big medal, but perhaps something smaller for extended service. Use your logic and thusly logic shall prevail.
We arn't here for awards, we're here for camaraderie and fun. If you find you are doing things only for advancement or awards, you might need to consider another avenue of enjoyment.
Competitions:
Prophet of Qel-Droma - Initiation Ceremony:
Having recently run the Prophet of Qel-Droma competition, the House has been blessed with a member worthy of wearing the "Prophet's Ring".
Of course, an official ceremony/initiation must be carried out. This is the Brethrens task:
Write a short story describing the ceremony, you could include information on the setting, members involved, from who's view point are you writing - the prophet-to-be, teh Quaestor, Consul or an observing member (yourself!). What are the feelings in the room and what does the ceremony consist of? What does the ring look like, etc etc etc....
I hope that when this initiation ceremony is written it can be used in the up and coming Clan Book of Arcona.

Conclusion:
Well - at last the GJW has started! Can we all give as much as we can so Arcona can whoop some ass and bring the title home to where it truly belongs. First phase is the run-on, link up above, so go read and post, I love how Khobai's given us a cool storyline...let's go add and improve to it. More phases will be announced next weekend. Stay tuned - if Mairin has done most of the work on this event, it'll be good, trust me!
We also have our own competition launched, which ends soon. Obviosuly the GJW is priority, but while it's quiet with event until next weekend - I'm hoping for some interesting entries, PLEASE GIVE ME AN EXCUSE TO AWARD YOU!!!
