Odanites, Allies, and those of the darker persuasion,

It’s taken a while to get it past Kiast security and a space whale may have eaten the first copy but I am pleased to present to you all with a brand new fiction update to feast upon. This directly follows from the Rite Supremacy ending and starts addressing some of your burning questions. Why is High Councillor Alethia Archenksova hanging out with the second in command of the DB? What’s our relationship with the DB fictionally? Even better, the final part of the story will be released in my next report at the end of this month. Lastly, I’ll be releasing a COU survey that I’d like all Odanites to take that will cover a variety of topics, to include getting your fictional input! Let’s get to it.

Fiction Update - Breaking Point, Part I.

Last we left off, the ruler of Kiast was in a coma, High Councillor Archenksova took over as temporary ruler, and Kiast is in the midst of the beginnings of a civil war. Among that, Odan-Urr, glorified renters on Kiast, went on a field trip to a space station called the Meridian Prime to go steal toys the Dark Brotherhood wanted in the hopes that maybe Kiast would chill out a bit if we moved our OEF fleet away from them, since someone has been generating a lot of Odan-Urr hate. Here is a picture to capture all of those words above. That room is Kiast.

As he had every day for several weeks now, Slynn Keldra looked down at the figure lying unconscious in the bed before him and prayed for her to wake up. His empress was strikingly beautiful, even in the plain white silk of a hospital gown, but she was nevertheless a mere shell of the glorious monarch he had served for the past twenty-seven years.

The Captain of the Royal Guard sighed, thankful at least that he was finally visiting alone. Every other time he’d come, the barbarian regent had come with him. Perhaps it was treasonous of him to be so suspicious of Kaltani’s designate regent, but Slynn couldn’t help himself. Archenksova had proven herself reasonably competent as a war leader, he had to admit, but the noble houses had slowly been slipped away from the throne no matter how many of the Dominion’s thugs they dispatched. The Human and her Jedi friends were outsiders, would always be outsiders. Slynn and the Vatali needed their sovereign.

The insurrection had turned from a brutal uprising to a bloody quagmire. As much as Keldra hated to admit it, the Odanite Expeditionary Force and the Jedi had most likely saved the Empire in the early fighting. The Vauzem Dominion had been building its strength for decades, and all the evidence indicated that they had supporters both within the Conclave and outside the system. But even as the Odanites helped win battles, the perception that Kaltani’s reign was being propped up by barbarians was a victory all its own for the Dominion.

The regent had sent the Odanite military out of the system on some pretext or another, and had the good sense to let him serve as the face of the administration to the Conclave, but her methods had grown increasingly brutal as their enemies dug in. This isn’t your first assassination, he’d remarked to her once. This isn’t my first empire, she’d answered.

“Lord Keldra.”

The words, barely more than a whisper, snapped the Sephi out of his reverie. He looked down at the bed, and those fierce emerald eyes looked back at him. “Majesty,” he choked out. “Thank the Force.”

“Where am I?” Kaltani asked.

“The medcenter, your majesty.” The guardsman paused, unsure just how much to burden his empress with. “Vauzem’s heir lives. You were poisoned on his orders.”

Kaltani almost nodded, the gesture barely perceptible. She was obviously still too weak for exaggerated movements. “Thank you for protecting me,” she said quietly. “I knew you would be a most capable regent.”

Did you give it read? Well, just in case you want the tldr, here is what happened:

• Lazy Empress awakens from her extended medical nap; her chief guard wants Alethia removed as Regent ASAP.
• Aura and Alethia discuss information and have a brief stare down over the latter’s tactics while Tarvitz preps the ship. Mustn’t fight in front of the kids. Aura then plays kick the can... the one holding the giant glowy crystal. A team is assembled to use said information.
• Grand Inquisitor Ishanta is bored in a safehouse, pondering things.
• The assembled team (Avengers Assemble?) of Jael Chi'ra, Declan Roark, Val Cole, Dral Falgorth and Creon Saldean give said safehouse a much larger window with a nice breeze. Fighting breaks out. Xirini Kurai comes to play too.
• After Ishanta wears herself out, Creon nearly jumping out of a window and Declan Roark nearly losing his head, Ishanta is taken into custody.
