A Statement to the Membership

All,

Many of you have now seen Evant's announcement nominating me to be the next Grand Master of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. To kick off the nomination period, I have prepared a Statement to the Electorate that outlines a few of my plans for the next year. For the next two weeks, I will also be accepting questions from the Electorate and members of the DJB. Questions and my answers will be added at the end of the Statement document as I address them. Please feel free to send me any questions you have (preferably by email); alternatively, you can submit them through your Consul. Either way, I will keep the questions anonymous when I answer them. (Also note that if you don't see your exact question end up in the document, it's likely because I've combined it with another or I think it has already been answered.)

Now, who exactly am I? Although my primary character has been "Dacien Victae" for many years now, I was and always will be BubbaX. The Electorate knows me well as I've worked with most of them in some capacity for the last few years, but I'm sure there are plenty of you who only know me from my news posts or giving Kamjin a hard time on Discord.

I joined this club more than 21 years ago when it was still part of the Emperor's Hammer (EH). During the Exodus I opted to remain in the EH for a couple of years before ultimately winding up back here as an EQ1 in Clan Tarentum. From there I eventually moved to the then-new Clan Plagueis, where I spent most of the rest of my non-Council career (aside from a brief stint in the short-lived House Revan) and served in every leadership position from Battleteam Leader to Consul. In 2014, I joined the Council for the first time as Headmaster, which I held for just over two years before stepping down. After my time as HM, I served as Right Hand of Justice and a temporary member of the Star Chamber while helping Evant design and launch the possessions system. Then in 2018, Mav nominated me to be Justicar. Since then I have served continuously on the Council--for nearly three years as Justicar and for the last two and a half as Deputy Grand Master. In all of those positions, I have focused on ensuring the best possible experience for the membership, something I will continue to do if elected Grand Master.

In real life, I have been a lawyer for the last decade. My job requires me to be organized and deliberate, which are traits that I think have served me well in this club. I am always open to persuasion and I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. In the club, I've built good relationships with members and leaders from all seven clans, and have been friends with some people for the better part of 20 years.

This club has been and will continue to be an important part of my life, and I hope to do my part to build something that will last for another 20 years.

Dacien Victae
Deputy Grand Master

Acceptable.

That'll do, Bubba. That'll do.

<BOWS>

Grand Master Bubba has a nice Redneck Ring to it!!! lol

I mean, if Howie has already granted his Seal (or Panda?) of Approval, then how can I argue :)

That was a one-time event to clear a backlog created by the introduction of an entirely new system of measuring progress towards an award or promotion, and there were too many to process and no real way to connect them to any particular thing someone had done, so they went through without real recs–think of them as backpay. Today, you shouldn’t be receiving anything without a real rec.

I appreciate this response. This makes more sense.

I have no doubt that Bubba is going to make a fine GM!

Pfft. Doesn't even know that the Justicar isn't a council position. No vote from me!

Oh wait. I don't get one. You got off easy this time Bubs.

Yes.... yes

Hail that short-lived memory of Revan! (And the other stuff, I guess)

I excited to see Bubba move our club into the future. He will be a phenomenal Grand Master for the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

Perfect choice for GM. Look forward to all you’re going to accomplish, Bubba.
