Hello, is it me you're looking for?

I want to start off this not-report by thanking Sarin and Mav for the opportunity they've provided me. I worked for Bubba almost the entire length of his tenure, and it's a true honor that they picked me as his successor. He's going to be one tough act to follow.

Later this week I'll issue my first report which should give an indication of where the projects I was working on as Praetor are and what we're looking at going forward in both the short and long term. In the mean time, I wanted to give a short introduction and also offer someone a job.

For those I haven't gotten to meet yet: Howdy, my name is Farrin. For the past nine months, in addition to working as Magistrate and then Praetor to Bubba, I've served as the Consul of Clan Tarentum. Tarentum was good to me, and it was truly a pleasure leading them. To say that I'm excited about this new opportunity to serve is an understatement, though!

Help Wanted: Apply Within

I got my first job working for Bubba shortly after he took over as HM; I read one of his very first reports and sent him an email letting him know if he needed dishes cleaned, cars washed, etc. I was looking for a job. Two years later... it worked out fairly well, don't you think? :) I'm truly thankful for all of you who have let me know you're interested in a position of service in the Shadow Academy. There's a LOT of work to keep this leviathan afloat, and I want you to all know I'll remember you when I need my car washe - I mean, when I need SA volunteers.

At the beginning of this year, Bubba announced a shift in how Magistrates to the Headmaster would be hired; mirroring how the MAA runs his office, the two M:HMs would serve fixed terms of six months. Bubba was going to trial this for the HM's office, and I'm continuing his trial. Both of the current M:HMs, Rhace Tarrin and Alishu, were hired in February and so have only completed half of their terms. Because of that, I'm not planning on looking for a Magistrate until at least August.

With that said... I am in need of a Praetor. What does P:HM do? They'll serve as my right hand (wo)man, assisting me in everything that this wonderful Wiki article says is my job. I'm not looking for a yes-man, I'm looking for someone that when necessary can take an unbiased, critical eye to everything ranging from course proposals to applications and help me make the Shadow Academy the best it can. You want a more formal listing of job requirements?

• No minimum rank.
• Ability to maintain an extremely high level of communication with me, the rest of the SA team, and everyone else that contacts us; that means a sub-24 hour email turn-around time (sub-12 if you can swing it) and Telegram access preferred.
• Ability to serve as a solid proofreader and editor.
• Ability to work with the Dark Council and Summit in particular but all members in general on behalf of the Shadow Academy.
• Leadership experience, either in the DB or otherwise, will definitely help.

Your application should tell me what you think the SA is doing right and what it's doing wrong. If you applied for HM, I didn't have your applications passed on to me... if you're wanting to apply for P:HM, and I hope some of you do, you'll need to send your app over. I have a lot of stuff I want to start working on immediately, so I'm going to make a decision on Praetor as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is May 13th (Yes, Friday the 13th) though I of course reserve the right to pick sooner if someone blows my socks off.
