Jedi Academy and Teamspeak Servers

Art of War Central has decided to close down their site. Giving no notice to subscribers, not even an email. I found out after trying to get to their site again today, no refunds as far as I can tell so far. I'm in the process of locating a new service to host our Teamspeak and Jedi Academy Servers, if you know of one please let me know in the comments section or through email.

Also, please be patient while these servers are down. It may be frustrating that you can't access these things right now, but it could be worse. You could have just lost $70 to some douchebags for subscriptions to servers through August.

Thanks, cheers.

What pricks, hope you do get that refund Val...I'll keep my eyes open for any hosting companies

This was the case with a guild in World of Tanks, that also had a Teamspeak server from Enjin. So Im going to guess that Art of War followed suit. Granted Enjin was decent enough to give the customers a heads up of well over 2 months notice back in January is when it began. They at least offered to turn the remaining balance over to either a website, or refund but you had to make a decision in writing via email to them. Knowing and dealing with AoWC in the past the service provided is crap at best when issues arrived from horrible customer support to any knowledge base they claim to have. I hope you can get a refund or transfer of funds of some type, but AoWC isnt known for giving refunds or if they do..you will be waiting a very long time to see anything, check around the web and see some of the horrible reviews from people in your position. I will suggest getting on the phone and talking directly to someone rather than sit and wait for an email.....good luck in any case

Art of War, ridiculous. What a piece of garbage organization.

Honestly I have no expectation of a refund from them. I've talked directly to PayPal about my last two transactions and getting them back, and they're working on a few things. So I might get like $20 back, the rest was all paid last summer through my credit card for the 1 year JA Server subscription. Chalking that up as a loss right now.

I'm looking at a Mumble Server instead of Teamspeak 3. They are running around half the cost of TS/Vent, and have some neat options. Check out this review for more info and let me know if you guys have any thoughts on this. I'm planning on picking up a server in the next few hours, so get your comments in while you can :p

I've used RaidCall a couple times, and I like it. I don't know what the costs are, but it's an interesting system.

I'm sorry about running into that type of issue, Val. Did we completely rule out Razers communication option? I know we were testing it, but it was actually free iirc?

I've no idea how it works over there in the States, but as you paid by Credit Card, here you'd often be able to talk to them about refunds for products that don't arrive, and then they deal with getting it back from the seller themselves. But, yeah, dunno how that works across the Pond though.

Otherwise, Mumble looks awesome. Source Forge has (179) 5-star reviews and only (10) negative. From what I'm reading, it looks like they are active in support and designed a product with the intent of beating out the incumbent (Team Speak). Not sure on pricing, but also check out https://www.gamevox.com/en/ that was built ontop of Mumble. Customizable server themes is pretty cool, and custom hostnames. Full support across Mac/Windows/Linux.

If it becomes a price thing, I'm sure more than a few of us avid gamers wouldn't mind chipping in to have something cool like this for the club. I'd chip in personally.

I heavily recommend Mumble. We use it in my WoW guild and have had absolutly no issues with it. Ours is 35 people and is about 15 bucks a month, so its not entirely expensive. Also good luck getting your cash back though, sounds like another company that just charges for a mediocre service. :S

I haven't exactly had good experience with Mumble - I've used it before and there were a lot of problems.

From what I can tell, most people in TOR prefer Vent and TS to Mumble. As long as we're still working on getting a good raider base, we need to be able to work with players outside the guild and if we switch to Mumble, it'll make it harder to do so. The fact is, friendly guilds we raid with don't use Mumble.

There are few guilds that actually use mumble for that reason that I know of (in ToR). I have Vent, TS and mumble installed as i pug run a lot in TOR and just find it isn't as reliable as either TS or Vent when required to use it in a raid. And out of them 2 i personally prefer TS.
