Hello, my lovelies! The time has come for the open beta of the new member homepage. Anyone willing to buy a ticket will be able to see what James and I have been coding up the past few months.
Once you've bought your ticket, click on the DB logo in the upper-left of the screen to see the new homepage. You may need to clear your cache.
New features include:
To rearrange, add, or delete boxes, click the "lock" button in the top right after you've bought your ticket.
Note: At this point, we haven't removed anything from the Admin page. If there's a link you can't find on the new home page that was on the Admin page, it's still there.
A huge thank-you to James (praise be) for helping me with the trickier parts of coding this, the Council and Emissary Staff for their early testing, and to all of you who offered suggestions when the preview first came out. We hope you like what we've made.
Note: This is still a beta release. We expect there to be bugs, like with any new rollout. Please add any bug reports you have to this news thread so we can keep track of them.

Anything to clear that national debt.
Gotta pay for my diplomatic events somehow!
Do we get to keep the ticket after, or is it like some private resorts where we have to give it back at the end?
If we get to keep it, I'm buying all of them!
I'm currently seeing the beta home page (I assume) without having purchased a beta ticket. Does that count as a bug?
@Windos - Yes, that's a bug. Should be fixed now (famous last words... :) )
Bought the Beta Home Page; James and Erinyes you are insane and I love the moveable layout, S+ for that alone. The Discord thing is also brilliant. I'm very curious what the Admin page is going to look like with this, but still, good so far!
Thanks James! Can confirmed that's working now.
I really enjoyed the new member homepage so far - great work! Wondering if we might get the Brotherhood Leadership & Clan Leadership as toggleable boxes as well?
just looks like the normal administration page. now how do we go back to the regular page?
@Brimstone: Go to the top menu Main > Latest News if that's what you mean. But you do have the tab for News items on the beta version as well.
I do like the customizability thus far. Being able to move stuff around to suit your preferences, deciding what is displayed, what is not, and even expanding some of the boxes, is very nice. My main note is... it is a wall of text. Currently, the home page (newspage) has some decent breaking up of the text wall via the headers on each news box. So much text, as it is, can be very daunting for some.
Echoing what Mune said. Having lived with this for a little bit now, I miss the news page and find myself frustrated when I click the site logo and don't get taken back to it.

@Mune and @Windos: Thanks for the feedback! We'll look at incorporating it into our next round of changes

Feedback Summary
1. Admin Page vs. New Home Page
The two pages look and feel very similar.
Because they show overlapping information, I’ve repeatedly found myself searching one page for links that actually live on the other. The visual distinction just isn’t strong enough to separate their functions.
2. Favorites Tab
The favorites tab is a great concept and reminds me of SharePoint’s “favorite anything” model—which works because of its breadth.
Right now, the feature feels limited because the number of links you can access through it is small. The idea is strong, but the usefulness feels capped by the available options.
3. Widget Resizing
Independent resizing is excellent. I really like that level of control.
However, some widgets—especially Characters and Time & Date—still have a minimum size that feels too large. They occupy more space than their function requires, which makes me consider removing them even though I want the information they provide.
4. News Tiles vs. List View
Windos’ comment resonated with me here. Having both the tile view and the condensed list view would help a lot.
If tiles could also be resized (similar to other widgets), that would be ideal—more visual flexibility without losing readability.
5. Desktop Wasted Space
There’s a lot of unused horizontal real estate on desktop.
Most of my browsing is on mobile, so I don’t see it often—but when I do, it’s noticeable. The page collapses well on mobile, but desktop could benefit from either more columns or dynamic expansion.
My only real suggestion is to make the 'Site Based Activities' 6 Big buttons on the top.
Since we're having option widgets now... Bring back ID lines? :D
