Recognizing a Pillar of the Club

All,

Several months ago, a small group of this club's leaders including Jac, Muz, Mav, Evant, Howie, and others, began discussing ways to honor the decades of contributions made by two-term GM and purger of Legends species, Sarin. It's difficult to articulate how many aspects of this club his work and leadership have impacted. Suffice it to say that without him, the club would look very different today and I think there's a real chance that it would have faded into obscurity a long time ago. We've been using the GLS as our pinnacle award since at least 1997, when many of our newer members hadn't even been born and I'd only just discovered TIE Fighter. Sarin has already been awarded two of them and while we could give him a third, this seemed like a good opportunity to introduce something new: a lifetime achievement award for the DB.

To that end, we created the Dantes Spear, named after Sarin's original GM character. Thanks to the incomparable bearded avenger, we have not only the first new sacramental award in decades but also by far the best looking one:

Dantes Spear

While Sarin is the first recipient, I'm sure we'll add more over time. For now, please congratulate him!

Congratulations, Sarin.

Congrats Sarin, pretty damn cool award.
