Hello Brotherhood!
After some serious discussion with the rest of the Council, I’m pleased to announce some substantial changes to the Possessions Salary Policy.
The general direction of our discussion on this matter was in reference to attracting people to the various positions held by leaders throughout the Brotherhood. We were concerned with how we could properly compensate people in leadership roles and provide added encouragement for more members to get involved in those positions (particularly newer or those without leadership experience). The resulting conversation ended with the conclusion that regardless of what additional actions we can take; leaders are generally underpaid for their efforts. Where credits are involved, so is the Regent. Accordingly, We’ve taken steps to correct the policy.
Going forward, nearly every leadership position will see a substantial increase to the weekly credit payout for serving in a position.
Some notable changes are: the increase to Society leaders and Staffers. The Exarch’s team does great work and deserve some recognition. The same applies to the Combat Master, who also does phenomenal work. House leadership and Clan Leadership sees the biggest increases. These folks are the unsung heroes of the Brotherhood, some extra cash would do them well. Council positions were only raised to meet the increases to the Unit-based positions.
Additionally, while reviewing the Merit and Sacramental Awards, there was a strange gap in the amount awarded for a Ruby Scepter. We have made a correction there. This amount has also been increased going forward.
Please note, these changes are not retroactive. They will only be taking effect from today forward. The short version as to why: It’s very difficult to, accurately and easily, manually calculate and manually apply retroactive credit increases.
And Ultimately, we feel that adding the incentive now may help to encourage future generations of members to make the leap into leadership. Of course, We’re grateful to all of the club’s past and present leaders. However, this change was made with our eyes set to the future rather than the past.
At this time these updates are limited to the leadership positions. As Regent, I will continue to analyze and suggest changes to the Salary Policy to best fit the needs of the membership of today and tomorrow. If more changes are in store in the future, I will share that with you post-haste.
Please see the full breakdown of the changes below:

This is a good change. Love it. Nice to see those staffers get paid.
Is good overall, think my only contention is now, based on credits alone, I'd be more incentivized to go for an open M position than apply to Envoy staff for instance as it's not equal to an M. Why not make them at least equal? (Especially given that RP is facing the uphill battle of generating more DMs that create content, and that's the biggest job of the Envoy Society Staff).
/Two cents, apologies if these arguments were already made in the background discussion.
Atty,
The aim of the initial exercise was to focus on the Clan level positions. So, the short answer is that the difference is based on the fact that some Clans operate with M:Consul instead of QUAs and AEDs. After much discussion, we surmised that the role of these Magistrates is on par with an AED. So, the value of Magistrate was increased to match the Aedile role. The M:Council roles happen to share the same pay grade and so they also get that benefit.
The increase to Society staffers was added specifically due to the considerable the work that you do. The Exarch Staff in particular is a specialized role, that also tends to the benefit of earning a substantial number of Cluster of Ice along the way. Whereas, a general Magistrate doesn't have that additional avenue of credit generation.
In the end, Society staff gets a 4x increase. The discrepancy between M: and Society staff was present in the past. It was a 1:4 ratio. It is now a 2:3 ratio. It's a big improvement. Or at least, a step in the right direction.
While we're re-examining salaries here, is there any chance of investigating what some may call the biggest oversight in the system? One that has haunted many of us for years, and reduced some of our Elder retired members to extreme measures best left unspoken. I speak, of course, about the unfair price gouging of a basic necessity and the inadequacy of our weekly pensions to keep up with the cost of living. A member at the Elder 1 rank receives a measly 95 credits per week. Glass bottles are an outrageous 100 credits.
I understand that the glass bottle makers in Brotherhood space are entitled to fair and just compensation for their work, but for too long have they preyed on our vulnerable Elders and their completely reasonable need to buy a bottle of something once a week. I implore you to implement either some price cap on basic necessities or to find the funding to raise our pensions to meet the ever increasing strains on our basic quality of life.
The Regent staff won't tell you this, Ben, but the 100 credit charge is for the bottle. The stuff inside the bottle is free and there's no corking fee.
Quit giving away ACE's secrets!
I knew it! I knew it! I knew that Pizza the Hutt was involved somehow!
Ohey, thanks Thran for giving me the raise my IRL job wont. This is definitely going to be wasted on shinies for my ship.
I just got a IRL raise - so I know how the staffers feel! Congrats!
