Fiction

The Monolith - Seraph, 1547 hours.

Thran impatiently checked his designer chronometer for the fourth time in two minutes. They were late. It was not often that he found himself in the unenviable position of being the one left waiting. Seventeen minutes and counting. The audacity the Hutts had to keep him waiting, bending to their schedule as if he were beneath them. Rage began to fester in the pits of his mind. He stilled himself. It was a classic power move, deliberate and intentional. All would be set right before the day was through.

From the wings of the chamber, a diminutive canid attorney approached. The pitter patter of his shoeless paws echoed through the cavernous space. He wriggled his snout and flicked his ears nervously. K’vin stopped beside Thran.

“They’ve arrived, Sir.” K’vin said softly

“Very well, K’vin.” Thran clicked his tongue against his cheek in agitation. “See them in.”

K’vin paused. He’d worked for Thran for eight years and never once had his employer pronounced his name properly. He had this time. Although that fact was certainly cause for alarm, he wouldn’t delay any longer lest he face the Sith’s wrath. The Bimm’s clawed toes clicked furiously as he scampered away to see the order completed. After that, K’vin would likely try to hide for the remainder of the day, safe to ponder the implication of actually being called by his given name.

A moment later, the massive pivot doors cracked open. Soldiers, clad in fine polished crimson armor, pushed open the basalt stone doors. The monolithic doors came to rest without a sound. Flanking the arriving party on either side, twelve of Clan Scholae Palatinae’s deadly Praetorian Guard escorted the arriving Hutt delegation. They marched in perfect synchrony. Heel, Toe. Heel, Toe. Click, clack. Click, clack.

Thran raised his chin and watched their approach. The Hutts were vile creatures, corpulent and coated with a thin layer of mucus-like fluid. Green spittle hung at the corners of their wide mouths. Their short arms wagged as they slithered towards him. There were two of the repulsive beings: Claudius and Gaius. There were subtle differences between the two, enough that Thran could tell them apart. Gaius was the larger of the two. Claudius had a trio of speckles on his chin. Among their entourage was a collection of alien and human courtiers. A few of them he recognized from Intelligence briefings: Vos Nolker, Candon Coburn, Sqygorn Dar, Dia Gida, Brie Cunnigemi. He had only dealt with one among their ranks personally: an associate, a Chiss called “Locita”.

Once at an acceptable distance, the escorting soldiers stopped in perfect time. The two Hutts and their Major Domo slid forward.

“I bid you welcome, Most Illustrious and Powerful Claudius. And to you, Gaius, Most Cunning and Magnificent, an equal welcome. And my friend, Jloc’itaome’faott, it pleases me to welcome you once again to our home on Seraph. I welcome all of the Tiure Clan.” Thran announced in Huttese.

His elocution was perfect. His accents in the Chiss language were near perfect too. They had been well practiced. His dress was refined, befitting of a formal visit. Everything about his presence proved he had been long prepared for this meeting. The Hutts took notice. They seemed impressed by his preparation.

“You are the one they call Vizier, Major Domo to the villain Kamjin.” Gaius’ booming voice, croaking his native tongue, filled the room.

Thran held up a hand, which kept Hutt from continuing.

“Let us not disguise the purpose of this visit and fill the air with empty pleasantries. We have business. Let us see to it.” Thran returned to speaking in basic. He turned away from the Hutt entourage and looked out over the roiling sea as it crashed against the Monolith’s sea wall.

“We had an agreement. A contract, which your assassin…” he turned back slightly and stared daggers at Dia Gida “Failed to complete…"

Hello everyone,

Some of you may know me, others may not. I am Thran.

I have been selected to carry on the work the Kamjin did for the Clan under his tenure. We have a lot of work to do, so I am going to keep this short.

I’d like to begin by thanking Kam for all his hard work. Despite all the picking on him that I do in public, Kamjin and I have worked very very closely over the last year and beyond. It was truly a pleasure working with him.

Thank you all for the opportunity to lead this Clan again. During my time as Consul, I will be constantly looking to the membership for feedback. We have a lot of goals we’d like to accomplish as a Summit team and I will address that in greater detail at a later time.

I do not have much else to say today.

At this time, I am opening the position of Proconsul for Clan Scholae Palatinae to applications. If you are interested in applying for the position, please send your application to me directly via Email. My email address can be found on my dossier. **EDIT - Applications are due by 0000 EST on 11/4

Applications MUST contain the following:

  • A CV/Resume of previously held positions within the Brotherhood (It is ok to have a limited history, but past experience is always a helpful measuring tool)
  • A brief explanation of what makes you the best candidate for the job
  • 3 personal and 3 professional goals you hope to accomplish as Proconsul
  • A brief description of the current culture of CSP and where you would like to inact changes.

I will have more to say in future reports. Until then…

FOR THE EMPIRE!!!

-DA Thran Occasus-Palpatine

Incredible! Great to see you back at Consul after all these years!

I have been stabbed and it feels so good. Long live the Empire! Long live the Usurper!

The return of Thran, as had been foretold in the ancient texts. Eeeeexcellent.

Enact is spelled with an E... lol

Wonderful to see you back on the throne!

I mean it'd be a missed opportunity to make him think he timetravelled if I didn't apply right?

Nice to see K'Vin getting his cameo. Congrats again Thran

Congrats Sir!
