[FIST] Update: Screenshot Submission Policy Update

header

Good afternoon,

I want to take a moment to address a recent situation involving submission standards for gaming submissions, and to establish a clear policy moving forward.

Divider

Background

A recent submission raised questions regarding the use of multiple screenshots to validate a single entry. In this case, the submitter had been advised that if all participants could not be captured within a single image, they could provide multiple screenshots and include an explanation in the submission comments.

Following the remand of these entries, I conducted a review to determine whether this approach had precedent. There was a prior instance, either in Star Wars: Squadrons or Star Wars: Battlefront II, where a similar situation occurred. Based on my predecessor(s) recollection, that submission was approved as a one-time exception. However, no formal policy or guidance was ever established as a result.

Policy Ruling

After reviewing both the precedent and the broader implications for the Gaming Pillar, the following policy is now in effect:

  • All submissions must be supported by a single, complete screenshot per entry.
  • Multiple screenshots used to validate a single entry will not be permitted.
  • Explanatory comments do not substitute for required visual verification.

This standard ensures consistency, fairness, and clarity in the review process. Allowing multiple screenshots per entry introduces ambiguity in validation, increases review complexity, and creates opportunities for inconsistent approvals across staff.

One-Time Exception

As this situation stemmed from guidance given in good faith, and no formal rule previously existed, the remanded submissions related to this case will be approved as a one-time exception.

This exception should not be interpreted as precedent going forward.

Next Steps

  • The Gaming Information page will be updated to reflect this policy.
  • This ruling will serve as the standard for all future submissions.
  • Staff will apply this policy consistently in review and approval processes.

If cases arise in the future, they will be evaluated within this framework, with the expectation that submissions remain clear, verifiable, and contained within a single screenshot.

Closing

The goal of this update is not to restrict participation, but to ensure that submission standards remain consistent, reviewable, and fair to all members. Clear expectations reduce confusion and help maintain the integrity of the system.

As always, if there are questions reach out before submitting.

Thank you,
