Great Jedi War XVII – Gaming Preparation Notice

As we approach the start of the Great Jedi War, I want to take a moment to ensure everyone has the opportunity to prepare ahead of time.
While the full competition schedule and structure will be released with the official launch, I am providing an early look at several titles that are highly likely to be featured throughout the event.
This is intended to give members time to install, update, and familiarize themselves with these games so that participation is as smooth as possible once the war begins.

Likely Featured Titles
The following games and platforms are expected to be utilized in various competitions during the Great Jedi War:
DJB Battleship (DJBShip)

Preparation Guidance
Members are encouraged to:
- Install and update any titles they do not currently have access to
- Ensure accounts are active and functional
- Familiarize themselves with basic gameplay and modes
- Coordinate with Clanmates for potential team-based activities
While not every title listed above will be required for participation, having multiple options available will provide the greatest flexibility during the event.

Final Notes
This list is not exhaustive, and additional titles may be introduced as the event unfolds. Full rules, scoring, and submission requirements will be provided with each individual competition.
As always, the goal is to provide a range of opportunities that support both competitive and casual participation across the Brotherhood.
Prepare accordingly.

Are you expecting game specific competitions, eg a HOTS only comp, such that a full completionist must have specific games, or will there be multiple options for each competition at least?
I would assume they would need the game. Previous wars, there has always been 1-3 competitions throughout that were focused on one game. (Such as BF2.)
Thank you, Uji, this will be a big help knowing what's coming ahead of time.
May I suggest against HotS?
Yea, we had comps that was focus on game (aka Halo Infinite two years ago and BF2 as Teebu said)
But the thing is, HotS is even more limited. PS5, Mobile, or Switch users cannot get HotS. XBOX can but only by game pass and I'm assuming you can play with AI without needing a game pass so...
I'm aware that BFII is similar but at least it has PS5 so more coverage than HotS.
Absolutely. We are intentionally focusing on free-to-play and accessible titles, but some platform-specific competitions will require downloading the game. Each bin will still offer a variety of options to support participation.
Just looked over the gaming activities for the past couple of days. Warframe, Pokemon Unite, Helldivers 2, Dead by Daylight, BF2, Rivals, and SWOTOR seem to be the most popular games submitted to (minus the casual queue). Kinda sad to see only two of those games made the cut.
Does anyone even play HotS anymore? Brawlhalla? IMO HotS has such outdated gameplay and it’s barely F2P.
People did play Brawlhalla during the Parabellum and honestly I'm for that game. It's on all platforms, including mobile for our mobile only users and free.
So my next question would be: is Brawlhalla a game people play because it was part of a competition, or did they play it naturally with or without it?
Because if they only play it during the competition, I’d question the value of using it, even if it is free. Team Fortress 2 is free. Overwatch is free. Fortnite is free. Warzone, Warframe, Smite, lots of other free games. I guess the only distinguishing difference is if the game can be played on mobile.
But then I go back to my first sentence: if mobile players are only playing during the GJW or major events, why cater to them?
Hell, I’d bet people would return for Hearthstone or D4 as well.
So, to address a few of these points and explain the reasoning behind the game selections for the upcoming Great Jedi War:
Warframe is not a platform I would willingly center competitions around. Players with more advanced Frames, equipment, progression, and overall account investment will naturally have a significant advantage over newer or returning players, even before accounting for differences in player skill. The same could be said for titles like Helldivers 2 or SWTOR, where players with hundreds of hours invested, established groups, or a willingness to spend money can hold a major advantage.
Dead by Daylight, Helldivers 2, and SWTOR (particularly if a subscription is required) are all paid-entry activities that I would generally prefer to avoid when planning broad participation events.
Heroes of the Storm is still actively played, remains Free to Play, and has been featured successfully in multiple previous Great Jedi Wars.
The overall intention is to provide as many participation options as possible during the war while focusing on titles that are accessible, easy to submit for, and approachable for the average member.
Neither I, nor any Fist before me, has ever designed Gaming around the expectation that members should participate in every single event. That is the reason we use bins, and why every phase includes activities that can be completed through mobile platforms, Discord, or web browser games.
Not every game will appeal to every member, and that is intentional. The goal is not for everyone to play every title, but to ensure that every member has something available that they can participate in.
As previously noted, and something that cannot be stressed enough, 100% participation across every event has never been the goal of Great Jedi War since the redesign to use Bins. The expectation is participation within your chosen bins. Anything beyond that is simply extra credit, extra XP, and additional opportunities for members who want to engage further.
Good points all around Donny. I do have a question though; with casual queue with the cluster races (because let's be honest, there's gonna be a cluster race) will it be split between supported games and casual queue only?
