Recruitment Team... Recruitment

I'll keep this short.

If you're keen on joining the Recruitment Team, helping to spread the word about Brotherhood, and introducing new people to the club, now is your chance.

One person will serve as, what you'd consider as a praetor if this office was part of the Dark Council. This person will perform general duties and also heading up convention related efforts.

Each other member will be responsible for a specific social outlet:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google+
  • YouTube
  • Tumblr... apparently, people like this thing or some-such.

All members of the team will also be... "strongly encouraged" to post interesting Star Wars related news pieces on the main page of our site. To this end, please have completed the two Markdown courses over at the Shadow Academy.

Other than the Markdown courses, the only other requirements are drive and enthusiasm.

Get your apps in to me via email. Feel free to CC who ever you want to, I'm not your boss (yet...).

Edit: Added a social network, see if you can figure out which... please also include others you may be interested in in your apps and I'll consider it.

I've just completed a major company assignment on Social Media, and researched how to use and post on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. According to worldwide statistics, people use Pinterest (the fastest growing social network to date) more than Tumblr (Alexa, 2014). You'd probably have a better market penetration if you remove Tumblr and add in Pinterest. Or if you have enough people use both. The top three most used social sites you already have listed (FB, Twitter and Google+). Although google+ ranks high on the list as most users, its because so many accounts are linked to google+ (hotmail for example, each user with an active hotmail account also has a Google+ account, but not very many people use google+ as compared to FB).

Also i hope people realize there are two branches which fall under Social Media. You have the Social Networking sites (Facebook, Pinterest and Google+ for example), which are not very good for spreading information, as these are networking sites. AKA you use these sites for pictures and funny quotes, keeping in touch with EXISTING clients, not procuring new ones (Parr, 2010). The Information networks (Twitter, Youtube and also Pinterest) are great for distributing news on a global scale, hence these sites are better for procuring NEW clients (Kwak, Lee, Park & Moon, 2010). Notice that many tweets contain links and a short message to catch your attention, and how often these are retweeted. Compare this to FB and the shares, its virtually zero. (Unless its a contest, Jedi's love contests and these always catch attention no matter what social media site you use, but that is a totally different subject). Tumblr is gaining popularity however and has seen its largest growth spurt last year (Bullas,2013).

I can go on and on and on, but i just wanted to point out that maybe a little research should be done into your target group, and which sites you will be using to what extent. A failed attempt by using the wrong means to reach your potential new brothers can lead to low moral by the person investing time into these sites if they see little to no progress. Or even worse, people being put of by such non interesting posts or facts.

I also apologize in advance if i come over as a know it all. I just find this very interesting, and would like to help contribute recent research done in this field. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me, id be happy to help out!

Kind regards,

Darkblade
