Archanis Quaestor Report #1: Getting Things Going

Andrelious J. Mimosa-Inahj did not like going anywhere near the Dajorra system. Even with several years having passed since his defection from Clan Arcona, he suspected that his old allies would still shoot on sight given half the chance. However, the instructions that Rian had given him were specific: an Arconan had been in contact.

The newly minted Archanis Quaestor half expected some kind of trap, but, as he approached the outskirts of Arconan space, he spotted a lone Star Commuter 2000.

“Greetings. This is Andrelious Mimosa-Inahj of Clan Taldryan. I was instructed to meet a contact at this location,” Andrelious broadcast.

“That is correct. Can we get this over with?” an accented voice replied.

“I didn’t intend to hang around here for long. I’m sure Atyiru, or whoever is in charge now, would send the entire DDF after me,” Andrelious answered, bringing his ship in to dock with the Star Commuter.

Making sure he had his lightsaber and blaster ready, Mimosa-Inahj opened the boarding hatch and climbed down into the unknown ship. He immediately spotted a tall, blue skinned humanoid with telltale red eyes.

A Chiss.

“Greetings, my name is Aldaric. As I discussed with your Consul, I wish to defect to Clan Taldryan,” the Chiss stated coolly.

“Alright. Are you going to tell me WHY you want to defect? I’m sure you’re aware that Arcona and Taldryan aren’t on the best of terms,” Andrelious questioned.

“I found records referring to the Rybanloth system. The files say two things. That the system belongs to Taldryan. And that it is home to a dark side nexus,” Aldaric replied.

“Access to the Rybanloth system is only allowed to senior members of the Clan,” the Quaestor lied; in reality the system had been lost shortly after the attack on Karufr.

“Then it’s in your interest to recruit me for your cause. I work my way into a senior role. Then I get what I came for,” the Chiss answered.

“Well..when you put it that way. Perhaps I have great need for people of your calibre. Here is what I propose…” Andrelious declared, ushering Aldaric aboard his own ship.

Introduction
Welcome to the first report of the newly re-opened House Archanis! I am delighted to have been given a chance to lead this house and I would once again like to extend my gratitude to Rian, as well as to those who helped make ‘Project Starlight’ a reality.

House News

With the House re-opening, I was in need of an Aedile. Thank you to those of you who applied for the position as you made my decision quite a lot harder than I was expecting.

Congratulations to Aldaric! As you’ll see from the fiction above, he joins us from Clan Arcona.

Clan News

Aside from Aldaric’s appointment, there have been a few other changes to Taldryan’s leadership team. Justinios Drake has stepped down from Quaestor over in Ektrosis, and has been replaced by Nihlus Vexri - better known to us as Noobis. Also joining the leadership team as Ektrosis Aedile is Morax Darkblade.

The Meridian Rite of Supremacy has finished. For those of you in Archanis, keep an eye on your inboxes as some of you will soon be receiving awards!

So how does Archanis work?

As with Ektrosis and its SRI, Archanis has its own fictional background.

In short, Archanis is a joint operations military unit. It will undertake missions that may require use of Taldryan’s army, navy, starfighter corps, as well as the Taldryan Intelligence Directorate.

As with the SRI and its morality system, members will be able to advance down two paths. However, unlike the SRI, the paths are not opposed to each other - a member could in theory earn perks on both paths.

The two paths that we in Archanis are using are:

Commander

The Commander path represents those who would complete a mission in a largely ‘by the book’ style. They would follow the mission brief to the best of their ability. As part of the brief, they will lead a strike team consisting of military assets appropriate to the mission ahead. In our example of attacking a Collective base, these assets would most likely take the form of a team of soldiers from Taldryan’s army. A Commander will lead these men, most likely from the front, and complete the mission whilst respecting military protocol and minimising casualties.

Maverick

A Maverick, put simply, has a lot of their own ideas. They will still follow the basics of a mission brief, but consider themselves to be among the very best at what they do and will head into battle alone. In our example of attacking a Collective base, they would have the skills to pull off destroying the base largely or entirely on their own, with little support from the rest of Archanis.

Each of the paths have their own perks system. The actual details of the perks are not yet completely finalised, but so far we have developed the first 8 levels of perks for both paths.
