Captain Soft Paw's Log #4

Fiction

The screens across the bridge flicker as a shower of sparks pelt Doon's face. He had made the mistake of keeping too close an eye on the repairs Nathan was preforming. The Shistavanen lifts his head away from the Pantorans shoulder, using a paw to rub his eye with a sharp growl.

"Sorry!" Nathan called over his shoulder, certainly not intending to have nearly blinded his already half blind captain. "This is going to take some time, just to get our bridge running. Lucky that our emergency power is routed through separate lines, or those would be ribbons as well." he spoke mostly to himself as Doon stepped away to a screen. The wolf's normal snarl expression had certainly not gone away following the infestation and following cleansing of the ship.

"How long?" the Captain's claws dug into the metal of the work station he was trying to make operational again.

Nathan flinched as Doon snapped at him, then swallowed before answering "I-if it's just me and a few others, it could take a few days. But if we can get communications back on, I might be able to reach someone that could help"

Doon remained silent, watching as the screen flickered on and off a few times. Nathan didn't mind the silence, but the tense wolf behind him didn't exactly soothe him either.

After another minute, more sparks showered the engineer as the panel Doon was standing over lit up, this time staying on.

"Good." The wolf rumbled under his breath as he started immediately upon the screen, checking the ships systems - or at least those that still remained connected. Numbers flashed before him, numbers he didn't seem to like considering the grow that rode under his words. "Take whoever you can and get communications back on. This power won't last us forever. If you can't get a message out in five hours, leave it and start repairing our main power. Without that, a message won't help anyone but scavengers."

Nathan stood, and nodded, taking one step to leave before faltering. He spun towards Doon and offered a shaky salute before dashing away down the hall.

Doon remained on the bridge as it's sole occupant, doing what he could to make lists of what needed to be done and in what order. They would survive this, in all likelihood. It would just take a bit of elbow grease to get things moving again.

General

Voidbreakers! I wanted to thank everyone who participated in the Event for everything that they did. As you read above, the Voidbreaker II suffered some damage during the event, thanks to the Crystaline parasites that bore through it in search of heat. Thanks to the effort of the crew on board, damage was non fatal to the ship. It will take a while before the ship is running back at full potential, but in the mean time feel free to check out some of the other Competitions running right now, like this AAF Development project where you can take part in shaping some of Arcona's finer details!

RESULTS

Did you skip down here? Surely you must be excited then as the results for The Mines of Riquis are in.

  • In first place with a whopping 28 Points is Archian! Congrats!
  • Second place with 18 goes to Tali
  • Third place with 10 Goes to Eleceos
  • Fourth goes to Adem who crushed the planet hopping flash game
  • In Fifth we have a tie, Both Marick and Mune scored 5 points and landed in the same placements in other Competitions

Closing words

Once again, thank you everyone who took part in my Event. This is the first of many, so keep an eye out in the future for more in depth (And Better prepared) events! Regular reports will start up in January, until then I wish everyone Happy Holidays and a great New Year!
