Clan Scholae Palatinae Rollmaster Report 0 - An Introduction from Elincia Rei

"What about Elincia? She's a scientist, proven her loyalty to the Empire and her ability to get results many times over"

"Dr. Rei has no Force training, my Emperor, and no military record. Who would follow her lead?"

"The Rollmaster doesn't lead troops into battle. She will perform her duties from her new lab, remotely"

Hi Scholae! It's a pleasure to take up the mantle of the position of Rollmaster. I'd like to thank Xen and Eether for accepting my application, and Landon for the hard work that's been done before me. This report will be more of an introduction to what you can expect to see from me, as I've been in this position for 4 hours and nothing has happened yet. In future, I'll be sending out official reports at the start of each month.

My Vision of the Position

Rollmaster is a flexible position in the db and every RM will handle it differently. The way I see it, Rollmaster is a leadership role overseeing the training and development of talents and knowledge of all members in the clan. This, of course, encompasses maintaining the master / student program and helping newer members towards promotion requirements, but also in nurturing the talent of all of our members, from Apprentice up to Master. I believe that the best way for us all to develop, not just as db members, but as writers, gamers, artists, leaders, is for us all to collaborate to help each other improve.

My Actual Plans

Some have already started. My fiction workshop has 9 participants, 10 including me, and is run as a collaborative workshop to provide an avenue for everyone to comment on each others' work, get feedback, learn from their mistakes, and an often missed point in learning - learning from other people's mistakes. With the last point in mind, feedback on my fiction workshop is sent to the entire group so we can all learn from each other.

I want to run more stuff like this on a regular basis, after identifying the most suitable tutors to handle each aspect of the db. I want to have workshops run for improving Run-ons, Battleplans, Graphics, Gaming, and possibly Mastership (Gaming will likely be split into popular platforms). I'll be running competitions alongside these for raw practice, expect to see regular graphics / fiction / miscellaneous competitions while we're not in a major event. I will also provide feedback on competition entries beyond your placement. It's no good knowing you came last without knowing how to improve, or coming first without knowing which particular aspects stood out.

I mentioned 'knowledge' in my vision section. With that in mind, I will bring the maintenance and appearance of the Clan's lore onto the wiki pages into the office / lab of the Rollmaster, to make it easier for our members to find information, and that the information contained is consistent and up to date.

I'll continue to maintain a master / student program, but on telegram, at the time of writing, we have 46 members in the clan channel. Those are 46 members that a new member can ask for advice, and I feel that making use of such a great resource available to us, where we practically have members on 24 hours a day, is just as useful, and should be emphasised as the best way to obtain help, as doing so also forges more bonds between our members than directly contacting a master.

About me

I've been in the db for about 10 years now, although I haven't held a summit position since I was Quaestor of Caliburnus, 8 years ago, and Xen was my Aedile. I specialise in fiction writing and character development, and would definitely encourage anyone working on developing their character further to either drop me an email at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] or message me on Telegram. If you have any questions about any aspect of the club whatsoever, same thing applies, I've served on staff roles in the ACC (before everyone had to requalify), HM, Wiki and Voice (before it was called Voice).

In real life, I teach Applied Mathematics at the University of Exeter while studying for a Ph.D. in the Mathematical Modelling of Cardiac Rhythms in Health and Disease. I also train in Taekwondo, Shaolin, and Praying Mantis Kung Fu.

Dr. Elincia Rei

Rollmaster

Was surprised to see a RM report, and happy to see you in the position. I could think of no one better at this point to take on the roll. Congrats, System Moff!

First off congratulations on the new position. The fiction workshop has been good so far and it's nice to receive the feedback for improvement. I'm looking forward to seeing your plans for the clan put in motion as are the rest of us no doubt.

Nice! Sounds like the focus changes slightly to focus from recruitment to recruitment AND retention. Sounds like a nice balance, Drrei!!

(Yes, I squished Doctor and Rei together on purpose. I'm a Sith, so I don't care that you like it or not). ^.^

Congratulations good ser! Welcome to the team of mistfits :)
