Combat Master Report #1: Introduction and Ambitions

An Introduction and Brief History:

Hello there! My name is Vincent Brujah, and if you're not familiar with me yet from my frequent jokes, GIFs, memes, stickers, emojis, and other Discord shenanigans... buckle up! I was appointed to the position of Combat Master just before the recent GJW and I decided to let that event run its course before I put out my first official report as CM. Before we start, I'd like to thank the Voice, the DGM, and the GM for putting their trust in me for this position. I'd also like to thank the Herald for these sweet report graphics. I'd be remiss to not once again thank my predecessor, Anderson, for doing a great job during his term as Combat Master.

With that out of the way, here's a brief run down on my history with the ACC. I joined the Brotherhood back in 2005 and the ACC quickly became my favorite activity within the club. During my early years with the Brotherhood, I served on the ACC staff as Judge, Operator, and even Deputy Combat Master. With the help of my peers I oversaw a ton of battles, competitions, and even helped launch and run the ACCLive! platform on IRC. The bulk of my experience with the ACC and judging happened in those early years between 2005-2011, prior to the XP system. As such, you may notice in my records that I don't have a bunch of judgements or even all that many matches in my history. Rest assured that I have a lot of experience in the ACC, it's just not captured in our current system. I have overseen Championships and Vendetta competitions, created venues, judged a ton of matches, and battled with some of the best to ever do it. I look forward to bringing my experience to this position and seeing what kind of fun we can find along the way.

My Goals and Ideas:

So, what do I have in store for the Combat Center? I have a couple of pretty ambitious ideas floating around in my head, but I'm not quite ready to discuss them yet. One thing that I can say with near certainty is that we will not see the return of Space Battles to the ACC under my term as Combat Master. As things stand right now, Space Battles are better suited for the RP system. So, if you're looking to write out a dogfight in your ship against another character (or multiple characters), look to the RP system for that. I will be looking into some other thoughts for vehicles in the ACC, but I make no promises at this time. We'll have to see how things work out on that front, but vehicles in the ACC is definitely something that is on my mind.

Really, my biggest goal is to see lots and lots of activity in the Combat Center. I made it clear in my application for the position that I'd like to see ACC competitions a lot more frequently than we currently see them. However, that doesn't just fall on the Combat Master. I will definitely be running my share of comps in the coming months, but I'd like to see more than that. I'd like to see Clans using the ACC for their major competitions. I'd like to see ACC competitions in Seasons. I'd like to see ACC competitions in Vendettas. Basically, anywhere that there is a collection of comps that are stacked with fiction, graphics, and gaming, I'd like to see an ACC comp in there too. If that is something that I can assist with in any way; whether that just be by talking through ideas or even having me step in to judge Clan competitions, we can work that out together and have a lot of fun and laughs doing so.

To that end, I will be reaching out to Clan Summits (CONs and PCONs) of all Clans in the coming days to discuss Clan venues. There are several Clan venues in the system right now that are outdated and could either use reworking or replacing. Some of these venues are even in places that fictionally no longer exist or are no longer as described in the venue description. I will be reaching out to all CONs and PCONs to discuss Clan Venues and whether or not they are still usable in their current form. If so, great! If not, we'll work together to create a new venue for your Clan to use as you see fit in any Clan level competitions.

Once we have cool, usable venues in place for every Clan in the Brotherhood, we'll move on towards some of my other ideas.

What's Next?:

So, we're going to get the Clan Venues updated as necessary and I'd like to see the ACC used a lot more frequently in competitions. That's all good and fun, but I hear you asking: "Don't you have something cool to announce in this report?". I'm glad you asked! Another one of the big points that I made in my CM application is that I want to see an ACC Championship tournament each and every year as long as I am in this position. With that in mind; I'm happy to announce that we will be holding an ACC Championship Tournament in 2026!

I'm not going to give dates as to when this will occur yet, as there is still a lot of planning to go into it. However, you can rest assured that I'm going to give everyone a bit of time to relax and recover from the GJW before we get started. This should be a cool one, though... My goal is to make this fun and accessible to every member of the Club, regardless of their experience level with the ACC. Maybe, just maybe... there are some other things in the works for this Championship.

Conclusion:

It is my honor to serve as Combat Master. This has been a goal of mine for a very long time, and I really look forward to working with all of you. I love the ACC and am very passionate about it. I feel like it is one of the very best places in the Club to grow your character and interact with other members. The stories are just waiting to be told, and I can't wait to see what new and fun stories you all come up with.

If anyone ever has any questions regarding the ACC, feel free to shoot an email my way or just hit me up on Discord. We're going to have a lot of fun, and I hope you look forward to it as much as I do. That's it for now. Until next time!
